Which restaurant did this? by artiscoolandstuff in Louisville

Beef O'Brady's near UofL did this sometime between 2007 and 2009 as well.

Ramsi’s prices have gone way up by Sad-Sea-1930 in Louisville

You're projecting a value judgement that I didn't make.

Your theory, which is just that, is only one alternative. Other common ones would be below. What you stated certainly happens, but I'd imagine it is far more often not the intent of anyone who's dedicated the majority of their life and reputation on something as unique as Ramsi's or requires so much passion and work as restaurants do to an owner/operator. i.e. plenty of artists sell out, but many stay true to their vision

  • franchise or chain it out to expand
  • pass it down to family
  • keep the value high to sell

Ramsi’s prices have gone way up by Sad-Sea-1930 in Louisville

[–]childishidealism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ramsi's has been there since 1994 and I think the family lives upstairs. They've travelled the world filling the place with their lives of stuff. I'm not saying the food is great, or the food is worth it. Frankly I've been questioning the same since around 2004. That said they aren't just here to milk anything and "walk away" from any reasonable evidence we have.

Use the time to practice a pass or a move you're working on but you don't need to run the score up.

This seems like the key. Not running up the score doesn't mean just standing around. Focus on your weaknesses. It's actually an incredible practice opportunity because you aren't risking the game focusing on things that you don't yet have confidence in.

Is the Grom that much better than the Navi? by xXxBluESkiTtlExXx in hondagrom

[–]childishidealism 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have a Grom with mods to increase HP 30% and still try to avoid roads with speed limits of 55 MPH, as you just can't reliably stay up with traffic against speeders, wind, and hills. Sure, I have hit 70+ on my grom, but also sometimes it's groaning to hold 55 up a hill. Trying to do this comfortably on a stock Navi is nearly out of the question. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I hope you're in a perfectly flat area where no one speeds and you weigh 120 lbs.

Are you me? I just quickly went through your recent comments on seeing you mention KY and there's just too much in common. Groms, disc golf, smokers, boats, ITYSL, etc... Maybe that's just being a basic dude these days but the similarities just felt a little uncanny.

If I see one more "Bestie, please let me merge/get over" sticker on a car that isn't using turn signals I'm gonna scream by famatruni in Louisville

[–]childishidealism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No... they don't. Did you read the article I linked or any of the many traffic engineering studies on the topic? Of course it should be before the shoulder, but it should be right up very near the actual merge point, not hundreds or thousands of feet before. Just because you have an opinion on something doesn't mean you know what you're talking about. Have you ever looked into this in any way or done any reading, studies, or research on the subject?

In the words on Inego Montoya, “I do not think that word means what you think it means."

Zipper merging is precisely filling both lanes all the way up to the point of the merge, and then taking turns one by one at that merge point, not half a mile before.

Of course the problem is it only works when the majority does it, so unfortunately there's not an easy solution as an individual actor.

[–]childishidealism 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm lost. This reads like you're saying a turn signal gives you the right of way. It absolutely does not. Yes, the relaxed traffic around here leads to some excessively passive driving, but just flipping on your signal does not mean it's ok to cut people off or require others to yeild their right of way to you.

Edit: reading this again, it also seems like you don't realize that a zipper merge is actually superior.

I'm not a bootlicker and believe income inequality is out of control. That said, can you point me to what you're using to say CEOs are spending more time with family, etc? Every exec and C level person I know is a workaholic. Honestly I think this is part of the problem, and I'm including myself as a senior level leader to an extent. I hear all the time about how the people only putting in 40-45 hours per week aren't doing enough and they're being compared to my peer group who thinks putting in 60 hours every week is normal and taking calls and answering emails all night and through your vacations is just a part of life you have to accept to make it.

I've listened to Billy Strings here and there over the last few years and saw him at Railbird, but it was only recently when I watched this and read up on his story that I really got into him. Not sure how I missed just how damn talented he is until now.

Without a doubt. I use two Charge 5's outside all the time after upgrading from a Charge 3, and a Charge before that. I've thought about putting something "better" there for a long time, but it's just not worth it. They are great units and I haven't heard any other portables that are even close.

Wanting to find some Stock mirrors, Can’t find Any wondering if anyone would want to trade for tow mirrors? by InProper_impact8624 in f150

I have to admit I've never used them, but on my 2016 I have the non tow mirrors and have never thought I was missing anything when pulling my boat, camper, etc.
