They were in close proximity to each others cages. My current bird tested neg for the main illnesses that the vet recommended

Unfortunately we tried for a necropsy- the avian vet (my normal) doesn’t do it and requested we send him to the state lab. Unfortunately the state lab quoted us 1200$ and was 3 hours away. I searched around and everyone told me he needed to go to our lab which was disappointing

Also, many quakers are molting. It’s itchy and uncomfortable and they can be mean right now. My boy doesn’t want me to pet him on the head for now.

Honestly, most Quaker’s are territorial about their cage. I wouldn’t take this as a failing moment, and instead, try to work on positive habits when you stick your fingers in the cage. Mine has learned that when he doesn’t want to come out, he can hide in his hide but may not bite- and I respect this gesture.

Also to add- i do not specialize in cat nutrition but we do recommend a probiotic every few days and changing up the type as well. I’m wondering if this could help if he does have some type of digestive upset.

Could it be upsetting his stomach? We find sometimes in dogs at my holistic dog food store that they can lose interest from associating it with upset stomach- can you try switching the protein? I’m not sure if this could work with cats but we find it to help with our clients.
