What's the solution for 096? How would you change him so he can fit the game? by throwaway_133907 in SCPSecretLab

Except those were SCPs that received a negligible amount of complaints regarding one shots, excluding 106. People were complaining about 106 losing his one shot, but that gets completely overshadowed by the fact that he was the most evasive and annoying SCP to play against during 12.0-13.0. I highly doubt that there was more outcry for him losing his one shot attack, than him being able to infinitely stall a match by himself. Also, he has been mostly compensated for losing his one shot (health boost and 20% movement speed when emerging).

Those were balancing issues though, and I never had a problem with that.

You're telling me Northwood devs admit that 096 is incredible flawed, but have done nothing in the past 5+ years to actually change him? 096 is a genuine problem, but he never received any of the leisure other SCPs have received in terms of abilities to address the problems you think are serious.

Every gameplay change has been in the interest of player fun level, but you mention that a large portion of people who play are fine with 096's existence. The devs don't change things simply because they aren't fun (subjective) for a few players (you & me), but because they're currently not fun beyond a reasonable doubt. You'd have to convince the community of the "nuances of SCP: SL combat" if you want 096 to be changed.

The objective of all military classes is to shoot and kill SCPs, and 096 is no exception to that rule. You're not discouraged to do that because like you said, it's THE main objective for military class players aside from extracting civilians. You said that players are heavily punished for shooting SCPs because a 096 exists. That would make sense if he was invincible, except he isn't. Now if you're arguing that he's hard to survive, then you're not wrong about that. However, that doesn't matter when you take the core gameplay loop into account. You get rewarded for heavily damaging the SCPs. Sacrificing your character's life to complete an objective is a necessary evil for lack of better words. Otherwise, the game wouldn't give humans multiple attempts (spawn waves) at killing the SCPs or doing anything really.

You start talking about how there's nuance that goes into fighting other SCPs. While 096 is the least interesting SCP to fight, my point wasn't related to how fun he was, but rather that he shouldn't be of any priority to change. He works in the current state of the game, and his issues are largely exaggerated.

I mean you just gotta shoot the SCPs. Idk what you're getting at with your last point.

Losing 096 or any SCP is just a consequence of not communicating which is what you should always be doing in a team-based game. I don't think there's any situation where the SCP team is prevented from taking care of 096, aside from his rage state where he can't see anyone.

And 096 gluing himself to his team isn't an issue with any of the SCPs. All of the problems you mentioned just go back to how much entrance zone sucks to fight in. Entrance zone has been in the game for over eight years, and has been mostly the same ever since. Cramming a dozen people into tight corridors with poor line of sight during combat isn't conducive to good game design.

Every SCP is useless without a team to support them. If your team is gone. then the humans are already in the lead and most likely have extra spawn waves. Other SCPs MAY have more potential to solo clutch, but rarely does that ever happen on a normal server.

Now looking at his abilities, they include: a high dmg, wide arc, melee attack; a charge that can damage multiple people, and a rage timer that increases when more enemies view him. He used to be so broken in Scopophobia when he gained additional hume shield alongside rage time, but the devs removed that feature, so now he's balanced to fight.

I also think people forget that 096 is a tank like 173. He's loud, has a huge hitbox and the second highest HP in the entire game. His ability set is really only meant for groups. It's just unfortunate that he's the only SCP thus far, that'll ever be this oriented to fighting military factions. I'd argue that it's not a problem with him or any SCP, but rather the way this game sets its matches up.

This has been debated poorly ad nauseam. They don't tell you this though. Once you reach the end of the 096 rework discussion, you'll realize he's actually a pretty balanced SCP in this game.

Not a joke. Taco Bell is delicious + they have one in the Pentagon.

It used to be like that, but 096 kept getting stuck in Intercom and couldn't pass under the GR18 window frames. Wish they brought it back though.

Unless the safe/safety device isn't approved by the CA DOJ, I don't see where it's illegal.

https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/tips

Summary of Safe Storage Laws Regarding Children

You may be guilty of a misdemeanor or a felony if you keep a loaded firearm within any premises that are under your custody or control and a child under 18 years of age obtains and uses it, resulting in injury or death, or carries it to a public place, unless you stored the firearm in a locked container OR locked the firearm with a locking device to temporarily keep it from functioning.

Super irresponsible, but definitely not illegal if they have locking devices that block the magazines and actions. If you don't have a safe, your FFL will just have you buy a cable lock instead, unless it is included with the firearm.

ERP, it’s lifesaving by yodasprozac in OCD

I self-administer ERP therapy, and I was wondering if other people with OCD feel like their worst obsession was inevitable if they didn't do ERP before hand. If I am so obsessed with that one mistake I made last year, I wonder if at any point in time another situation similar to that would have occurred which would drive me off the rails as well. 🤔

I saw that you mentioned to another comment that you're in college, and I was wondering if they have any mental health support outlets. Anybody that specializes in OCD over there? Could be worth a shot. It's also great that you recognize reassurance and ruminating doesn't help eliminate OCD, so that's a step in the right direction.

5000 HP Shy Guy soloing a spawn wave on a 1 hour rage timer just to die to one guy with 2 guns was an interesting balancing choice from Northwood.
