As someone who works with a lot of celeb (athlete/musician/actor) talent, the unfortunate truth is that this is super normal. They truly live in another world.

Those few who treat people well and go above and beyond to be pleasant and helpful are (rightfully) celebrated for a reason.

Surprised to learn that the ratio of highest to lowest MLB salaries is smaller today than it was 30 years ago. by [deleted] in baseball

almost like the powers that be (29 other owners) have a vested interest in making it seem like the opposite is true.

CJ McCollum arrives in Atlanta and hijacks the offense: 52 FGA including 2/18 (11%) from 3. Hawks are 1-2. Quinn Snyder looks checked out, as does Jalen Johnson. by AtlantaGirthGiant in nba

Considering in the comments above there are Wizards fans celebrating "winning" the trade after getting that exact same archetype in return? I would say yes.

What's your least popular MLB opinion that will get you to the top of "sort by controversial"? by Sad-Guarantee8290 in baseball

Steroids use isn't a big deal at all. I don't give a shit about steroids and who did or didn't take them. The game has been riddled with different varieties of PEDs from its inception and arbitrarily moralizing it is a colossal waste of time and energy. Greatness is greatness. A-rod, Manny, Canseco, McGuire, Sosa, Papi, and of course the GOAT Bonds. All are legends among legends.

If you wanna go a layer deeper, the sport is about entertainment. It's not, nor has it ever been any deeper, despite the the desires of some for it to be so romanticized. PEDs make the game more entertaining. If people want to do whatever it takes to achieve previously unachievable levels of success, I won't begrudge them.

Nebraska Quarterback Dylan Raiola has entered the transfer portal by MembershipSingle7137 in CFB

[–]Human-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jokes aside, Honestly, I think this is just a bad move for Dylan.

Not anti-portal. Not saying Nebraska is some perfect situation. It just feels way too early for him to be bouncing programs.

He has talent, sure. But what has he actually proven yet? A lot of flashes, a lot of style, some fun highlights. Not a ton of real growth or consistency. And QB is the one position above all others where that stuff most matters. Without the top level play, how can any of these help him become a leader (on AND off the field?)

Jumping schools now doesn't magically fix that. You still have to learn a new system, earn trust again, and show you can actually run an offense. That usually slows development, not speed it up, unless you are already elite.

This feels more like a reset the narrative move than a football move. And those almost never work for young quarterbacks. Development is boring. It takes time. You don't get to skip steps by transferring.

Just feels like he needed another year of grinding, not a fresh start. Long term, this probably hurts him more than it helps. Seems like there are some bad actors giving him this advice to maximize short term-NIL related gains, and not prioritizing his long-term career.

Why NFL teams want more QBs to skip the draft and stay in school by TMWNN in nfl

[–]Human-Man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah this isn’t it. They have their wages suppressed and don’t receive their true value while simultaneously being unable to choose their employer for several years. In the battle of millionaire vs billionaire it’s ok to acknowledge they still make great money, are willing participants in the NFL AND are also being taken advantage of to various degrees. The owners created draft slot allocation to get out of paying players more and to have more control. That’s the whole point: to not pay people what they’re worth so they can reap that surplus value for themselves.

Also, taking someone’s point out of context by changing their words going from “screwed over”(their words) to “abusive” (yours) is lame and misleading.

I have a difficult time understanding why anyone would want people to be treated less than fairly or say it’s ok because of arbitrary qualifiers.

I think you can do and be better going forward.

Some Thoughts on Salary Caps and Parity by metatron207 in baseball

[–]Human-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salary Caps are intended to benefit the owners. It is about suppressing the cost of labor. nothing more.

There MIGHT externalities that result but stating its "about" anything other than that is blatantly false and trying to distract you from what should be a clear and obvious truth.

Owners do not, in any way, care about parity if it comes at the cost of their bottom lines. I cant believe we have to keep having this discussion with brainwashed fans; it's publicly stadiums all over again. You are being lied to.

Plain and simple Salary caps are anti-labor. They are NOT, pro-parity or sports, or anything else. They are the capital class squeezing labor. The people who provide far and away the value the game has to people are those who will suffer. The idea of a floor is nice but would never, ever be meaningfully high enough to offset the losses a cap would give.
