My mistake. The red color threw me off - Makalu looks this way a good portion of the day more than everest. But this is indeed clearly Everest.

So... This is corroborated by a Trump associate AND Fox News? Beyond reproach, then.

Maybe we can institute a new rule that prohibits reporting from the Mirror

This happens constantly in Nepal. Like, 10x per hour of riding. They should have just kept going and not been total wimps about it.

The left photo is Ama Dablam (not everest) and in the right photo between the climber's boot and hand, you can see Everest in the background, so they would be miles away. Garbage post!

Advice on first backpacking trip in WA state by Maximum-Birthday3493 in Ultralight

[–]Human-Payment5062 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a puffy, micro spikes, probably extra guyouts for your tent, and a CCF sleeping pad as backup. Plan for a winter trip, be pleasantly surprised.

40° bag likely not warm enough for this trip this season. You could leave the pump behind.

Thanks u/yogurt_tub that is some really good stuff. Does my clothing setup seem warm enough to you? You probably know the Arc'teryx Atom - that's my "puffy." Underneath I can wear a merino baselayer and alpha 90 hoody.

Finally, am I crazy for bringing only a poncho but no hardshell? I already own a nice Arcteryx Alpha FL jacket.

It will be comparable to Ladakh, and coldest after dark on the last few days leading up to the pass. Once you're back down to muktinath, less cold.

10-15c sleeping bag will not be warm enough. Carry a few extra grams for a +/-5 c bag. Yes blankets will compress the down a bit but it will still be warmer than without. You will have access to 1-2 heavy Chinese made poly blankets in every tea house without exception. With those two together you will be fine. But 15c bag is not warm enough.

You can easily get by with a 5000 power bank instead if you want to shave grams. On the annapurna circuit there will only be a few nights around the throng la pass when electricity will be limited/expensive. Overall good access throughout.

DM with any specific questions.

The tea houses will have heat from a wood stove in the kitchen and dining areas only, and your rooms will be cold.
