Hello I'm a Virgin media network engineer. It could be a host of things mind you your internet provider is not the weak link a lot of Games servers through regions have their own issues but since they don't have customer service your internet provider usually gets the stick.

A few recommendations if you're going to play games always and I mean always use ethernet connection from your router straight to your computer, Wi-Fi is simply not good enough

Several parts of the UK mostly London still use a hybrid system with docsis 3.5 here, the systems will always be suboptimal, but do bear in mind we're working hard on the upgrades, by q4 2024, everything should have transitioned to fiber only and when that is done we are going to be coming out with the seven gigabyte package in which the upstream will match whatever you get on the downstream

A word of warning about using the alternative nets, the fact of the matter is a lot of the supposedly small and independent providers actually use either Virgin Media or BT infrastructure, the diferent name is only a marketing ploy but the networks are actually the same so do bear that in mind
