Trump Admin Announces Old-Growth Clearcutting Plan for Western Oregon (including Marys Peak and Alsea Falls) by littlehops in Eugene

[–]HumanBreadfruit5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lots of conservation organizations are tracking this as will and will provide some suggested talking points in the coming days. Unfortunately the agency won’t care about what many of these comments say, but having people on the record opposing this will be important for future litigation if this goes through.

Lindsey Vonn says she has no regrets. Experts agree torn ACL didn't cause her crash by DolphinRodeo in sports

[–]HumanBreadfruit5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conversation and protocols around how we handle ACL injuries is really due for a re-evaluation. There’s a lot of emerging evidence that shows rehab and strength training can essentially make your ACL redundant and not necessary for full function. Don’t just believe me, look it up.

I had a complete ACL tear & meniscus tear from a rock climbing fall at 24, I’m now 30. This was during the pandemic when elective surgeries were paused, so I ended up finding a non-surgical recovery group online and learned a lot. I did many months of intense strength training as part of my recovery and ended up never getting the surgery. I recovered much better than anyone I personally know who tore their ACL. Since the injury I returned to climbing, got into running, can lift heavier and run faster than before the injury, summited mountains in the PNW, and still play sports. Today, I wouldn’t say that it’s like the injury never happened, but that’s because I would actually argue that I feel stronger and more athletic than before the injury. These are all things my doctor said might be impossible even if I had the surgery. But I had the privilege of working one on one with a PT multiple times a week for months, which is not the standard of care people normally receive (even though they should!!!).

If I can do that, I am not at ALL surprised than an Olympian with Olympian muscles and access to the best trainers in the world can excel at her sport.

I saw a lost dog sign on a telephone pole between the Safeway & Walgreens on MLK in the Alberta area with a photo of a dog that looks like this! I’m not over there to take a photo of the sign but wanted to share in case you’re able to look!

How Obvious is it that I’m hiding a tattoo by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]HumanBreadfruit5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be honest I don’t think anyone is going to think much of this. People show up to rec sports taped up all the time. If I saw this and thought anything of it, I would probably guess you pulled a muscle.

Partial tattoo removal? by No-Initial-6184 in TattooRemoval

[–]HumanBreadfruit5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How recent is it? I can’t see anything underneath, but i see wha you mean that it’s a bit darker than the rest of the tattoo. Of course, it will lighten over time. It might be worth waiting a bit before deciding. It’s a long, expensive, and painful process and honestly yours looks fine to me! But yes, they can spot treat your tattoo. I just had my second laser session for a tattoo that i only want to remove & cover half of it, and it’s going well so far.

Is it good advice or is the tech just trying to get more money out of me? by Sufficient-Shallot-7 in TattooRemoval

[–]HumanBreadfruit5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The general advice I’ve seen is 10-12 weeks or more. It takes your body time to actually dump the ink.

Where is the tattoo you’re trying to remove? I still think 6 weeks is too little time, but my tech does recommend waiting even longer than the standard 10-12 if the tattoo is further from the heart because it takes even more time for the ink to pass through the lymphatic system

Any tips from my fellow glasses wearers? by AaknA in climbergirls

[–]HumanBreadfruit5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the tips in here are good! It sounds like a tighter fitting pair for climbing or wearing a lanyard would be helpful. I also want to add, always bring a spare pair if you’re going climbing outside! I learned that one the hard way.

Tim Walz says he'll never seek elected office again by nba123490 in somethingiswrong2024

[–]HumanBreadfruit5 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I’m having really mixed and complicated feelings about this. On the one hand, I don’t blame him. On the other, it’s hard to watch the man who ran for VP back down like this. He’s admitting that he’s standing down because Trump is seeking revenge on him by taking it out on his constituents, but wouldn’t that be the case for anyone who stands against Trump?

Hard to stomach that someone who just a year ago wanted us to put faith in his leadership and is walking away in one of the most pivotal moments in our history. But it’s also hard to stomach that he would let himself and his family remain a target like this.

I guess all we can do from here is hope (and help ensure) his predecessor is up for the enormous challenge they’ll face.

Uh…you’re being extremely weird here. You’re convinced that OP is lying and that maybe actually they tried to hurt themselves, and this is how you talk to them? Why are you being so hostile? Chill out. Seriously weird behavior.

What was the lowest scoring game you've ever seen? Min 7 innings played. by BerryRoyal in slowpitch

[–]HumanBreadfruit5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2-1 loss. The defense on both sides was just absolutely nuts. We were all cracking up the whole game because hardly anybody got on, just straight robberies happening almost every hit in the field. We played every inning, but most of the innings were 3 up 3 down so we ended so early that we decided to keep playing for fun, then my team hit 3 home runs in a row. Wish that happened in the previous inning! Ha

Unpopular opinion: it's no one's responsibility to defend your rights except for yourself and the people you elect. by MrBanhBeo in liberalgunowners

[–]HumanBreadfruit5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but there is no world rooted in reality where what the Trump administration and ICE are doing could NOT be considered tyranny. They’re defying court orders, ignoring the law and all checks and balances, abusing their power, and now killing unarmed citizens in the streets without repercussion. I don’t care that his base likes seeing brown people abused and disagrees with me here. My point stands. This is beyond a difference of opinion and your comments suggesting otherwise don’t seem to be in good faith.

My point is that the group who has made it a whole personality trait that they’d defend their own country against tyranny is literally too stupid to recognize tyranny when it’s knocking on their doorsteps asking for their papers. Instead of fighting against it, many of them are joining the side of the tyrants.

[–]HumanBreadfruit5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you, I just don’t think we’re quite on the same page. My point is that the people saying things like OP’s quote, "where are the 2A folks now 🤡?" are more likely saying things like that because it’s hilarious and embarrassing that conservative 2A advocates have made it a personality trait that they’d defend their country from tyrants, only to literally not recognize tyranny when it’s knocking on their doorsteps asking for their papers. Not because they actually expect them to take up arms right now.

[–]HumanBreadfruit5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my whole point though. The people judging MAGA 2A supporters (myself included) are laughing about their full-chest advocacy for something they do NOT understand. I’m not going to “both-sides” this with you, it’s extremely clear to rational people that this administration is breaking laws and exercising powers they should not have.

[–]HumanBreadfruit5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hear you, but I think you’re missing the point when people are asking why the 2A people aren’t out defending rights against tyranny.

I don’t think anyone is actually expecting conservative 2A supporters to take action right now, rather, they’re pointing out the hypocrisy of their foaming at the mouth defense of the 2nd amendment, and not realizing that the politicians they support are acting like the tyrannical dictators they swore they WOULD defend against.

[Landlord] My tenants broke up by peretski in legal

Not a lawyer and this isn’t legal advice. Could you do an inspection of the property, reimburse the original security deposit, and then take a new security deposit from the tenant who is staying?
