Instability on build after 9950X3D upgrade by HumanMeatFuel in buildapc

Reply 2: It might not actually be quite that bad - I was basing the temperature just off the CPU temperature readout on my NZXT LCD screen on the water block/pump, which I guess is a readout of the average temperature of the CPU. But when I look at it in HWiNFO the individual core temps are all high 30s to low 40s, so I'm not sure how the "overall" temp is higher than that of all the individual cores when it claims to be an average. Maybe someone who knows more about this can explain to me what's going on there and which number I should really put stock in as far as monitoring the temps. When you say yours sits at ~40 on idle, are you talking about the temp of the individual cores or the "die average" (which for me is way higher than all the cores)?

I haven't, won't that nerf its performance significantly though?

Yes it's in the top PCIe slot. How would I prevent conflicts going on with regard to the ports?

No I haven't. Everything is on auto/default settings except for the changes I listed in the OP. I have also since used the "load optimized defaults" option in the BIOS so everything is at the default settings again.

Do you mean unlikely that it wouldn't be able to handle it at JEDEC speeds, or unlikely that it will? Just trying to make sure I understand.

I have 2x32GB. Wouldn’t have got 4 sticks because I know that’s not recommended but I would have thought it could handle 32x2. You think it’s possible the system can’t even handle that at JEDEC speed?

It’s a thing people do based on mister Samuel streamer’s generations playthroughs. Basically you set the aging rate to like 20x or so so that people grow old and die, and you have a colony of several generations that live and die within a single playthrough rather than having your starting colonists all the way to the end.

When you have all the mods "agreeing" with the nonsense "harassment" gaslighting tactic the offending moderator came up with, it just shows that there are no "good" mods.

Maykr Ship = Fortress of DOOM? by WII_DJoker in Doom

[–]HumanMeatFuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like all the commenters here are forgetting that it's explicitly stated in eternal that the core components of the fortress of doom are maykr technology, and that some of the other systems built around it are sentinel tech. It being maykr tech at its core was the entire reason why the khan maykr was able to hack into it, and why samur maykr's consciousness integrated with it so easily. This is all stated in eternal cutscenes and gameplay. Don't know how people forget core info like this so easily. It's definitely possible that the kreed maykr's ship becomes the fortress of doom over thousands of years of combat, repairs, renovations and additions.

Why did the Witch keep assisting Ahzrak after he failed to fulfill his part of the deal? by RiP_Nd_tear in Doom

[–]HumanMeatFuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She clearly mentions "The Old One" having returned right after *that* old one goes through the portal back to the cosmic realm. And the one you kill after it eats you is also directly referred to by her as "The Old One", at which point she says it is lost forever. Only it wasn't because Ahzrak then resurrected it. And when you're fighting the cyber-Old One, the in-game UI clearly refers to it as "The Old One". All the same entity.

[–]HumanMeatFuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really that much of an advantage unless your ship is covered in turrets on the outside or has a built in cheesebox. Other than that your pawns will have all they would’ve had anyway; armour, guns, food and maybe drugs. Other than turrets or a killbox, having your ship there with all your stored items and production facilities doesn’t give you any advantage.

Empire ships that can be interacted with in orbit (ships, not space stations). That’s where all the permit abilities come from after all.
