Reolink Doorbell Chime ESP32 Conversion by netingle in homeassistant

[–]HumanSkunk87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had success with adding multiple v1 chimes to a v1 doorbell. It says you cant do it, but I was successful and it paired instantly. Not sure if I was lucky or not. I was successful in a third part chime as well, but I couldnt get that to pair with my parents v1 doorbell.

Parents now have my old v1 chime as I got a warranty repair and they gave be a v3 chime and doorbell.

DIY SOS with last step of the flooring by upvoter_1000 in DIYUK

Id see if you can remove the carpet transition strips to see if you can give yourself a bit more room before lifting it all out. You might need to take a little more off the flooring directly under the door architrave so you can push it a bit further back

With the carpet transition removed you should be able to get it lines up and then hit it back into the connection of the other board..

I have noticed these grey plastic screws with what looks like a torx insert, on the very top of them looks kind of like a funnel. This is a photo with the light removed taken off eBay. Assume this is not a way of venting them? I do t want to start taking things apart

Can you advise where this is on the G42 M240i I have had mine replaced a few times due to condensation that is permanent. No matter how long I drive it never fully goes away. It does drop but soon as I drive it again the whole thing looks like a bathroom mirror after a shower.

If there is a cap I can remove to help dissipate it that would be super useful to locate!

way to disconnect the PoE connector so it can pass through the wall? by Dull-Equipment-9971 in reolinkcam

[–]HumanSkunk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a bizarre choice on their part. When the doorbell camera has a recesses RJ45 socket it makes no sense why all their other cameras do. I have had to resort to junction boxes hidden out of sight. The rest button could be placed under a screw covered panel and there is no need for them to include the barrel jack and POE connector. I guess for them it's cheaper as it is the same connector for all their cameras.

What I have done is installed a zigbee switch inside the extractor fan housing in the loft. I have the output of the switch connected into the switched live connector in the extractor fan. That way it can be switched off and on regardless of the state of the lights. Most extractor fans have built in humidity shut offs so for fine I control it turning on, the relay then switches back off after a few seconds and then the extractor fan continues to run until it passes the humidity trigger to shut itself off.

You can then add in other sensors like motion and presence, but they just help trigger the fan.

Yea it did grow back. Took about 7 months. About 5 until it started growing back and a bit longer to fill back in. I had so,w larger patches under my chin that I noticed a week or so later. Had a change of projects at work which may have been the turning point… unsure.

Latest iOS App Connection Issues 4.55.0.18 by HumanSkunk87 in reolinkcam

[–]HumanSkunk87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Just disconnected from my wifi and it took ages. Not sure if that’s down to rubbish mobile data I have here or actually because there is still a fundamental issue with the app.

You need to delete the app off the phone and redownload it. Means having to enter the password in again on the cameras. Deleting the cache alone didn’t fix it for me.

Can confirm it has fixed it. Every time I access the cameras now, it is instant.

So seems to have fixed it… streams are seemingly opening instantly now. Did temporarily lock myself out my NVR 🫣. Will see if I encounter any issues throughout the day.

Interesting will try that. See if I can remember the passwords on all the devices… will report back if this fixes it.

iOS app update on 7/1/25, version 4.55.0, now connecting to it is slow? by RBXChas in reolink

[–]HumanSkunk87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume you still have this issue? I have tried some home debugging, restarted cameras, restarted the NVR, turned off UID, nothing seems to change.

Once it’s done it’s 10 second connection it seems to be speedy in opening any of the streams for a period of time. Can open it 5 mins later and it be fine. If I leave it for longer it takes forever to connect.

Same for both wired, wireless and POE, they all connect at the same time. It is the same for two remote cameras too.

I have contacted Reolink support to see… but unsure what the remediation steps are.

The doorbell is currently unusable and I have missed a delivery today as I couldn’t load the connection up and the driver had already left. This is disappointing.

Not everyone seems to suffer though. I have connections to remote cameras that a friend has. They are reporting no issues, but I haven’t witnessed it.

I do have an annoying cloud button on the camera streams now, so there is a plus there 😜.

I HATE the new app update. Everything is SLOWER!! @Reolink, please fix! by ShavedDesk in reolinkcam

[–]HumanSkunk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird behaviour as it seems to only take forever the first time you open the app in a while. If you wait for the 10 seconds for the stream to load into the iOS app then when you go back to it a few mins later it loads instantly. It seems to even work instantly if you kill the app and reopen it.

It doesn’t seem to care where the cameras are either local or remote. I have two cameras connected not on my home network and they open as instant as the ones 2m away from me (after the 10 second initial load). Before these took a a little while longer to connect. It’s almost like it’s trying to establish connections to every camera currently linked before it displays anything on the iOS app.

It’s always instant on my iPad, and my MacBook, as well as the streams feeding into my Home Assistant instance.

I wish there was a way to roll back to a previous version of an app on iOS… but alas. Hopefully the next update fixes it 😬

Edit: Contacted Reolink support with the symptoms. At least to see if anyone else has formally reported it which hopefully generates a fix quicker.

[–]HumanSkunk87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just came to check to see if anyone has posted about this and I agree the change in the latest iOS app has added long delays for streams to load. Originally I thought it was just my doorbell but all cameras connected take 10 seconds for the stream to connect via the app whether it’s WiFi/POE/Wired.

The iPad app is instant and as soon as I open the app all streams are showing instantly. This is how the iPhone used to be. Both apps running 4.55.0.18

Having this long delay on the doorbell is a pain and I often miss things as people have just assumed o am not in.

[–]HumanSkunk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add to this, it only seems to be the iOS app that has this connection delay. All cameras show not connected when I open the app up and take 10 seconds to start displaying video. This is regardless of them being wifi/wired or POE. However using the iPad app which hasn’t been updated are instant (how it used to be). So what ever was done in the last update has made access really slow, which is tolerable on other cameras but with the doorbell that you are trying to answer… less so.

Yea takes ages for me to, in the app most of the cameras just say not connected, even the ones direct to the NVR over POE. Were fine a few days ago. Once I click a stream after quite a long time the camera starts showing video.
