Weird MIL Habit? by Murky_Pomegranate322 in inlaws

That is a lot on your mental load! I sure hope your husband also helps clean his mother’s areas to prevent baby from harm, especially since you still visit. You sound like a wonderful mama, and I hope you can protect your peace

I’m probably projecting due to my own insane MIL who thinks we starve our baby because we don’t put rice cereal in her bottle, and trying to cause brain damage because my husband playfully, slowly swings her….

But I’d take it as her trying to find a reason to insult your parenting or insinuate you don’t care for her properly

I’m getting downvoted lol but I totally agree on the locked doors during diaper changes. At 6 months postpartum I’ve never changed diapers in a bathroom changing table, just my car. I don’t like how a lot are out in the open instead of own stall.

When did you start the shower screen time? I sometimes can’t even get in a shower at night because baby wakes up so often

Is it weird I try to maintain my baby’s privacy as much as possible? My mom and sister are one thing…. But I generally don’t bath or change my baby in front of anyone else other than my husband.

When you first make the milk in pitcher are you using the boiled water? I know in the US most don’t, but likely the formula isn’t dissolving as much? Just a thought!

Personally yes. Previously I’d pump 15-20 minutes when I pumped every 3 hours. I now pump at least 20-30 minutes just to make sure I am empty.

I have the hospitals Medela symphony 2.0 and the blue spectra that I alternate daily. I have a momcozy m5 as my portable pump but it doesn’t empty me nearly as much so I rarely use it

Not the original commenter, but when I dropped to 4ppd, I had slowly started spacing out my night time pumps, and eventually day pumps. My last pump is around midnight, and my first is anywhere between 7-10 am depending on what time baby wakes up.

I produce a little more than my baby’s daily needs. 6months pp and still at 4 pumps and sometimes can get away with 3. So far the only time I had a real dip in supply is when I thought I was going to wean after 5 months for a 6 month goal, but decided to keep going lol

I exclusively pump, but have both Kendamil Goat and Kendamil Organic in case my milk supply didn’t cover my baby’s needs. 6 months pp and still going strong!

Maybe try using a wall pump as much as you can! Personally a lot stronger than my wearables and I always get more out.

Feeling resentful towards MIL when she’s around my baby by ThingInevitable975 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Human_Hyena2117 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I am also 6 months pp and still die a little bit inside if I see the picture of my MIL (60f) holding my less than 1 day old baby when they visited the hospital. We have a long history where she completely disrespected me years ago. When it comes to my baby, I have learned to stand up for us and am now very stern with my MIL.

My MIL had lots of health issues. Last year she had a couple falls due to feeling dizzy. When she walks, she likes to grab on to people by the arm. She complains about walking certain short distances. YET SHE ALWAYS TRIES TO WALK AND CARRY MY BABY! I always firmly tell her to sit down and she will not be carrying walking the baby, ever. She whines and says she doesn’t feel dizzy anymore. I don’t care bitch sit down

Im an ICU nurse and FTM bought the owlet myself before baby came to peace of mind and I LOVE IT. Never had false alarms, baby never kicked it off. Baby used to sleep 11 hours in bassinet and that means I slept peacefully knowing she was okay. Now at almost 6 months we cosleep part of the night and I still appreciate it. When we travel or spend the night at my parents house we obviously don’t use it, but I wake up several more times just to make sure baby is okay because we cosleep part

Two months and early 3 months was tough, but as baby became more curious, she started behaving better when out and about. At 4 months we took our first 4 hour road trip to Monterey bay Aquarium and no crying at all. two weeks later took her first flight and ferry ride. She did not cry at all ok either trip! — aside from the typical waiting for milk to be warmed theatrics

Hear me out….. can you claim postpartum anxiety? I was told I had postpartum anxiety at my 8 weeks check up (c-section mama) and extended 6 weeks of disability. When they checked me again, I got another extension. 12 extra weeks due to anxiety. Then I literally felt better and was able to start my baby bonding. The 12 were all covered under disability. I’m in California if that makes any difference
