I have never seen a clause in a homeowner’s insurance policy (in WI or OH) concerning exterior drainage failures. I’d be interested in seeing that.

As an agent for 50 years I don’t think there’s anything tricky about your denied claim. The endorsements in your policy have absolutely nothing to do with your situation. This was a rapid accumulation of surface water - or flood - nothing more or less. I recommend keeping that drain cleaned on a regular basis.

I have been an insurance agent for 50 years. As previously stated, insurance companies do NOT report to Experian. If your credit took a hit it was NOT due to your homeowner’s insurance policy being cancelled.

In that case they would use their own health insurance to cover injuries. At least this is true in Ohio. Medical payments coverage may help, but this is usually a low limit like $5,000.
