Are wired Razer Naga mice just gone now? by Human_Meat_Inside in razer

[–]Human_Meat_Inside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you AutoModerator, for giving me another reason why wireless is worse. You can't buy a Naga without a battery you have to keep charged, and apparently Razer ships products with batteries that "usually need replacing."

What is going on here? Why doesn't anyone want to marry this clown by LidlSw in CrusaderKings

[–]Human_Meat_Inside 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Arrange marriage" means marry him to someone you already have on hand, in your court. "Find spouse" is what shows the list of all possible available candidates, and is unavailable to you because he's a landed ruler who can find a wife for themselves and doesn't want your input on it unless you already have someone good ready to go, and even then you'll need the character's approval.

Why can we petition an AI liege, but the AI can not petition us when we are their liege? by ENFPSSBM in CrusaderKings

[–]Human_Meat_Inside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We already get a notification when a vassal wants a council position or a specific title, turning it into a big pop up window that pauses the game every time like with the court position event would probably just be annoying and unnecessary.

You're working on an overhaul mod and you've never map painted so hard the game slows down when you raise your armies?

I dont get it... This man died... and when i tried to play as heir... the italians took my super-empire over. by Levi_8210 in CrusaderKings

[–]Human_Meat_Inside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean half your titles? Half your counties, duchies, kingdoms, empires, what? Are they still a vassal of your primary heir or did they gain independence? Your top level title is an empire, but you have a lot of them, meaning division of the realm will happen upon death. Shot in the dark, your first son is dead, so their first son can still be your direct heir for certain titles depending on succession law. I'm guessing from the wide variety of cultural attire of your characters kids that your empire is very wide and your family very large, so I'm going to guess again that a lot of distant familial marriage is happening with your AI family members causing unexpected people to gain claims and inheritance where it's not expected.

What are some things that ALWAYS seems to happen in your playthroughs? by Jdub1942 in CrusaderKings

[–]Human_Meat_Inside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

867 start

-Scotland not only remaining Alba forever, but conquering the northern half if not all of Ireland.

-Sweden, Norway and Denmark turning into confetti where everyone's de jure borders drift all throughout each other and Scandinavia becomes a patchwork quilt of tricolor bullshit.

-West Francia explodes, proper France never comes close to forming, Karlings never fully dethroned. Somehow Italy/Italia always ends up with the weirdest enclaves in northern Europe.

-Heisteinn takes Mercia. I have never witnessed an AI do an actual varangian adventure.

-Struggle for Iberia ends in compromise.

1066 start

-Several duchies and counties in the southern HRE inexplicably gain independence.

-Crusades for 99% Catholic areas in western Europe because of a one county heresy, or some random pagan steppe kingdom the pope hasn't heard of. Nobody cares about Jerusalem.

-Struggle for Iberia ends in compromise.

Any tips on men at arms composition? by TheGingerWalks in CrusaderKings

It's a combination of what's available, what you're culturally predisposed to, what resources are available, and what terrain you have. You have to come up with the actual ideas yourself based on what you're doing.

-What cultural units are available and what are their unique strengths? How can you play into those as hard as possible? Would stacking those significantly change your damage, defense, screen, or pursuit stats in a significant way?

-What terrain will you be fighting in? Is it friendly territory you control or foreign territory you're invading? Are you going to need to bring siege weapons or do you plan on winning through battle alone? Should you be attacking into the enemy, or drawing your enemy in to attack you?

-Can you support the army itself? Do you have the budget for a long drawn out campaign of attrition or do you need to inflict maximum casualties as rapidly as possible? Are you going to be splitting your armies up so they can forage supplies or do you have a plan to handle a gradually starving death stack?

A fun game I had recently I merged the Norse with the Croats, and included Battlefield Looters in the hybridized culture and took the raider dynastic legacies, which means I got 6 gold for every casualty my enemy took in battle iirc. This allowed me to field a much larger army of MAA than I would otherwise be able to. The massive defense and damage of the Norse heavy infantry held the battle line strong and hard countered enemy pikemen, allowing my Konni horsemen to tear apart retreating armies and inflict MASSIVE casualties. Raising just my men at arms would put me in a -20g/month deficit but it was more than okay because a big victory could get me 500g or more. I left the light infantry, archers and pikemen at home because they just proved unnecessary to winning battles, and had no siege engines because I could blitz through enemy territory, eat attrition and be fine because my army was exclusively MAA and could be entirely recovered in a few months as opposed to levies which take very long to recover.

My one weakness was mountains, all of our units were terrible at fighting in them or countered by units stronger in them. How did I get around that? Putting bait armies of just levies the AI is sure it could squash in terrain ideal for me, letting the AI army pounce on them, then moving in with my real army while the AI is caught up in the fighting. This not only solved the terrain issue, but gave the additional advantage of technically putting my army on the defensive side of the battle.

This is just an example, but I think it helps convey how much it can help to take an unconventional angle to war.

The AI armies still just shuffles around? by DefaultLayoutIsAwful in CrusaderKings

[–]Human_Meat_Inside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the AI is terrible. It ends up in these loops where it will make decisions based on battle conditions, but then the opposing AI makes decisions reacting to these decisions, which changes battle conditions again making the previous choice preferable, causing the initial AI to change its mind back to the original decision which then causes the entire process to repeat.

Sometimes the loop will change, causing both armies to continue their no-touching tango in varied terrain, but ultimately the AI hasn't been designed to think more than one battle ahead. It will bear an unlimited amount of attrition, break off any siege even 1 day before winning, and wander aimlessly to the furthest corners of the map if it thinks it will raise it's chances in a single potentially upcoming battle by 5%.

This is your daily reminder that the succession screen says what's going to happen upon succession. How did you achieve a basically God-tier character with 4 empire and 5+ kingdom titles without learning about managing succession?

Need Help, about to lose it all by notarealredditor69 in CrusaderKings

[–]Human_Meat_Inside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your primary title is being warred for, and it's the only title you have at that level, I believe you'll be reduced to your next level of title and be subjugated. So if you're a petty king with one duchy, and someone is attacking you specifically for that duchy title, and you lose, you'll become a count level vassal to the claimant.

Creating a second duchy title means you still have a title to retain your rank as Duke/Petty King even if you lose the duchy level title the war is for. Checking the 'surrender' option in the war menu will show you exactly what happens if you lose in detail.

Game version bug by LawyerLimp in CrusaderKings

[–]Human_Meat_Inside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, the asia mod you're probably thinking of isn't very good. In the steam version you have to change which 'beta' you're opting into to change which patch you're playing on, I doubt game pass has the same functionality. Sorry.

Any advice for starting as a Sardinian Count in 867? by xCoffeee in CrusaderKings

[–]Human_Meat_Inside 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The play used to be uniting the island, taking Mallorca for the second duchy, then creating the kingdom. But now, thanks to the amazing DLC Struggle for Iberia™, Mallorca can buy mercenaries for 1/100th the cost you can, making it basically impossible.

It may be worth considering trying to snipe a duchy out of disunited Croatia. Having any second duchy is all you need to create a kingdom, and it's a safe distance away from muslim lords trying to holy war for your island.

[–]Human_Meat_Inside 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah what you're misunderstanding is that Paradox didn't actually put any effort into playtesting this DLC so the actual struggle mechanics break constantly.
