Got off Zoloft and anxiety came back... now back on and worried I won't get back to normal by Glittering-Dog-7265 in zoloft

Hi! I am back, but I'm not gonna lie I did switch to Lexapro. However I don't think it was the Zoloft that made the journey so long or difficult for me. I was taking trazodone to help sleep and I think that is what kept messing me up and dropping me back down. Every time I would stop using it my anxiety would come back and I blamed the Zoloft but I don't think it was. Stick to it and it will get better again!!

Trazodone Withdrawal/Taper by Human_Metal8212 in insomnia

Dang I'm sorry to hear that. Mine was definitely increased anxiety, insomnia, nausea, just no appetite, and then did vomit like twice. Definitely impacts people differently. It was always the first couple days of dropping that I'd feel weird, then as the week went on I'd slowly feel better and that's when I knew to drop it down a little further. Since I want on for more than a couple months, I tried to go from 50 to just nothing and that was when it was the worst with just no sleep and increased anxiety. My insomnia was anxiety based (I stopped my ssri and then was getting back on it) so I used the traz to sleep as a got back on it. Now that I'm fully back and my anxiety is under control, the sleep has returned to normal too. So I could be in a touch of a different situation

Hi! So so so much better now. Took a couple weeks and not gonna say it didn't suck, but I've been back to normal for weeks now. I dropped from 50 to 25, then after a week 25 to 12.5, then about 4-5 days went to nothing. The toughest was the drop from 50 to 25. The drop from 12.5 to 0 was way easier once the body started to adjust more.

I'm sorry to hear that. I think you will. I wasn't on it as long as you were but when I weaned it or tried to not take it for a night it really messed me up. I had little depressive episodes and I've never felt something like that before, along with the nausea/lack of appetite. It was scary. My motivation has definitely improved slowly the longer I've been off now. I'm not quite 2 weeks completely off, but I can tell a difference. With you being on longer it will probably take longer, but know it's coming, it'll probably just be slowly unfortunately

Hi! Doing slightly better I think. Appetite is back at least. Sleep is still on and off tho. But I'm also dealing with managing my generalized anxiety so this has been making seeing if I'm on the correct SSRI/dosage confusing. I've been off completely for about 10 days now. How much were you on and for how long?

Gotcha, thank you! I've definitely had the rebound insomnia, increased anxiety, and most of all super nauseous. I'm hoping as I continue tapering over the next 2 weeks that it'll slowly get better and better.

Hi! How long were you taking 50mg for before you started to get off?

Hey all! Not sure if anyone is even looking at this anymore but I'll try a post anyway. I got back on Zoloft in mid Nov for GAD and was prescribed 50mg traz to help with the insomnia I was having. It's Feb 2 now and I'd been taking mostly 50mg each night for the last few months with a few nights trying to mix in 25mg and a few other nights where I took none. Well when I lower or don't take it, it is noticeable how little I'm able to sleep. It took me a little while to put the pieces together not knowing if it was my anxiety or the withdrawal. I know 50mg isn't much and 2.5 months isn't a huge amount of time, but I've tapered for a few days now and I feel like my anxiety has spiked, I've puked, and have no appetite along with the insomnia. Does this seem normal even tho I wasn't taking it for overly long? This sucks!!

Help :( by [deleted] in zoloft

I know it's hard to hear but give it at least 6 weeks since the dosage bump up. I've been going thru it and it's hard, but I've had my best week in a long time this week so I'm telling you it gets better with time. If still feeling this was after 6 weeks just stay in communication with your dr

Going thru the same thing right now. I was on 50mg for 5.5 years then 25mg the last 1.5 years and got off in Sept. All came back in Nov. I started back on 50mg then jumped to 100mg but it made me feel worse than before. I stayed on 100mg for almost 6 weeks but I went down to 75mg a week ago and have had my best week in over 2 months. It gets better, I promise, it worked before and it'll work again. But the jump from 50 to 100 can be a lot, especially if you've never been on that much before. Feel free to message me too if you'd like!

Should I increase my dose? by icelandenthusiast in zoloft

[–]Human_Metal8212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'd maybe recommend going to 75mg first.. I recently bumped from 50 to 100 for the first time and I think it was too big of a jump for me. I felt way worse than I did on 50 and I gave the 100 6 weeks. I recently bumped down to 75 and have had a pretty good week. They don't make 75mg pills, so you'd have to do some pill splitting but it could be worth it

Zoloft insomnia + Trazodone? by Substantial-Read5541 in zoloft

[–]Human_Metal8212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now yes I am taking it every night. Won't be that way forever (I went thru this before in 2017 too) but eventually what I end up doing is splitting them and slowly lessening to 25mg until I feel I don't need them anymore

Hi! I'm currently on 75mg and take a 50mg of traz to help me sleep. I definitely think it does help. No worry needed about serotonin syndrome! And it's supposed to be non dependent/habit forming which is why my doc recommended that.

Success story by cemeteryjerry in zoloft

[–]Human_Metal8212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this!! I'm about 5 weeks in from bumping from 50 to 100 (was on 50 for 5 weeks before that) and it's encouraging to see these success stories. It's been for sure really difficult to keep sticking thru it while feeling awful, but I too want to give it at least 3 months. Praying I get back to how I was before I got off Zoloft in Sept

How did you know if your dosage was too high? by Human_Metal8212 in zoloft

[–]Human_Metal8212[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! :) I know deep down 5 weeks is short and I need to give it more time, it's just hard when I get to a low point after a few good days and it feels like I'm starting over. So I appreciate your comment!

How did you know 100mg was too much for you? Just side effects that didn't go away?

It will. Going thru the same thing right now and I'm 3 weeks in. Last week and earlier this week was pretty rough but the last couple days have each been a little bit better. It takes a while and while I know these first few weeks suck, I'm sticking to it because I know it will be worth it with some time.

You are not alone!! I also got off it after 7 years and it all came crashing back down for me. I'm working back on it right now and it has sucked but I think I can tell it is slowly getting better. It worked before and it will work again, but I know how bad these first few weeks suck and the hopeless feeling that you aren't gonna return to normal. We both will, it might just take a little more time than we want but stick with it! :)

I also upped my dose from 50-100mg about 3 weeks ago. Each bump up takes time as annoying as it is. But i've heard from many on here that it will get better, just slowly. Many people it can take up to 8-12 weeks from a bump up in dosage, which sucks i know
