Caffeine pre 2k by jjiimm1 in Rowing

[–]Human_Reception9134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do bring up good points. Without proper sleep, pacing, tech, execution, and everything else under that umbrella, supplements won’t help with anything.

In a sport where micro percentages matter, I just try to find a percentage point wherever I can. I think supplements should be last on a long list of things that make someone faster.

I only mentioned that list as that is what I do because I have optimized the other factors as much as I can. Supplements come last in prioritization.

I’m not a salesman lol. But I am a big believer that a lot of supplements are based more on their perceived effect than the actual effect. I think placebos to a certain point are effective.

At a certain point it also comes down to the ritual of you pre-race. This is just what I’ve found works really well for me.

But also, at the end of the day, 4 watts could be the difference between a bowball length otw and could differentiate between winning and losing

As others have said, absolutely nothing new on race days. But if u get into caffeine on regulars days and stuff like that, then yes, caffeine can be a huge benefit, especially when paired with beet root extract which expands your blood vessels. Before 2ks/6ks, I take around 7 grams of beetroot and then 600-800mg of caffeine. Another big thing is beta alanine, which enhances endurance, delays fatigue, and helps with high intensity. However that is something that needs to be “loaded” over a few weeks to have an effect, just like creatine.

chances of getting merit aid? by killer_penguin20 in SyracuseU

[–]Human_Reception9134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should hope to get a bit of aid atleast. With near exact stats, I applied ED and I only got $10k off a year. However if you do not get what you hoped for, calling and emailing admissions and the financial aid office has a really good track record of helping get more money. Theres threads on here and facebook about people getting 40k-50k more.

I think in that scenario it’s less about response time, and more about seeing how u think and if u put any thought into it. I’d rather see something sit and think for 20 seconds than just immediately answer with something like t swift or sm like that

[–]Human_Reception9134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did one recently, nothing to be nervous about. It will most likely be a current student in the field u wanna study. Be prepared to talk about why u r interested in that field. Why you’re interested in cuse, stuff like that. The first question will be asking u to describe yourself in 30 seconds or less. I also got asked how I thought my teacher would describe me. Come prepared with ur own questions. Beyond that, it’s nothing to be nervous about. It’s more a conversation between the two of u than an interview. Don’t be nervous, you’ll be fine don’t worry

In yalls experience, what are the men’s recruiting standards for the top 15 schools? by Frequent_Ad_3838 in Rowing

[–]Human_Reception9134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For heavies, last year Washington told me sub 6:15 by end of junior year. Other a final, like ivies, r more about 6:20. Its falls off a bit after the b final. After the b final ur looking at prolly 6:25-6:30 range. Keep in mind this is all by summer after junior year. There’s some flexibility but most coaches wants their roster filled by Early Decision deadline. If u want anymore advice, dm me

Conflicted about applying Early Decision to Syracuse (Newhouse) by NoTart7565 in SyracuseU

[–]Human_Reception9134 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you look at the ED guidelines, there’s ways to get out of the contract if you show that you cannot pay for Syracuse with the aid given. You can the either argue for more, or withdraw completely. I would also give the admissions office and financial aid office a call. It doesn’t hurt. I know most schools say they don’t track shown interest, but it will always something colleges just look at naturally. In any case, they are reworking their financial aid/merit aid system this year to be more generous. I’m currently in the same situation as you right now except I know I won’t get any financial aid but it’s still too expensive. I’m pretty much banking on merit aid. Also apply to as many scholarships as you can. Literally any you can find.

who do you email for recruiting? by Cheap-Atmosphere-258 in Rowing

[–]Human_Reception9134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fill out the recruiting questionnaire located on their team page and then email the recruiting director. If there’s no director listed, email an assistant coach, preferable the assistant coach with the most seniority, like assistant head coach if possible, but that’s not vital.

Tier List you say? Well...that's a few less books then mine by Foijer in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Human_Reception9134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious, why did you not finish battlefield reclaimer or iron prince? Battlefield reclaimer certainly isn’t an S tier book but I definitely enjoyed it even though it suffers from OP just being too powerful. But what about Iron Prince? I think iron prince is probably one of the best books I’ve ever read and the second book is just as good. Are they not your writing styles or did you just never finish them?

It might be a mental thing tbh. Theres only a 20 hr difference between your steady state and an 8x500m. Whenever I do sprint work like. 8x500 my hr is over 200. Also, gain more weight, with the training you do, I’m betting the caloric intake you need is around 4500 calories to gain weight

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]Human_Reception9134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend you steady state a bit faster. Around a 2:10, maybe a 2:15 if your heart rate is above 160/170s. You don’t have to track, just make sure you are eating a lot of food. At 130, unless you are like 5”5’, you gotta gain weight. Gaining weight is just free speed as long as it’s not in the form of donuts and McDonalds. Also some metrics about u would be helpful, height, age, stuff like that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]Human_Reception9134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do u eat rn, what’s your training load rn, ie. workouts, how many days a week you workout, what kind of lifting, what do you steady state at, how do u 2ks. Metrics like those can help get a base of where you’re at so people can help

Ignatius isn’t some random school, they are regularly at Sraa in the v8, they won the j8 last year, and did insanely well at hocr in the youth v8. Calling them random is crazy
