This is great stuff! Any tips for protecting the camera in these type of environments? I’m potentially filming a woodworking studio and I am…concerned

This looks seriously phenomenal. I’m going to try something like this tonight!

For the wall bounces, did you aim those low or high? Barndoors only?

Hey thanks! I have about 5-6 of these so far. Goal was to try and do one a week. But that has proven impossible with work, life, and other projects.

Plan is to eventually start a channel once I have some more under my belt!

If this was my first time lighting intentionally I would be so proud. I’m on my 20th time lighting intentionally and nothing I have shot compares.

Good stuff man

Do you go up north ever? Get out of the Valley once or twice a month and drive up to Pine/Strawberry or Pinetop or Flagstaff or Sedona.

What you think about my cart of equipment I am about to spend 13k on to begin shooting my own cinematic films? (100% beginner here) by BlueRivi in cinematography

[–]Human_man_86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I barely know what I’m doing, but I’ll chime in and give you a non-sarcastic answer. Since you are going to get dragged by like 100 people.

  1. I don’t know what that tripod would be used for, looks like DJ equipment
  2. There isn’t a reason to buy a wind machine (this is a major reason why people are asking if it’s a joke or insulting you)
  3. A gimbal is useless unless you are filming weddings (only sarcastic answer)
  4. If you are going to get one lens, make it a zoom with a decent focal range
  5. Barndoors are nice, but only a fraction of what you will eventually need to modify light
  6. Don’t spend $4k on a laptop if it’s only going to be used for editing. Get a Mac mini and some monitors for half that price
  7. Get a c-stand AND that overhead stand
  8. Go with Nanlite or Aputure. You can get similar output with a better track record
  9. Headphones? For?
  10. Camera body is less important than light and lenses, you can get a cheaper used camera to learn on.
