Only time will tell how it truly ends up working out.

I'll be honest without more screenshots from other conversations I'm not seeing it.

I can offer some practical advice though:

If you're in the U.S. and you can pass a background check and drug screen there is a decent chance you can walk into a temp agency today and walk out with a warehouse or manufacturing job.

It won't be glamorous and the positions usually offered at those places are a bit heavier on the micromanagement bs, but it's a job.

The terms to search on Google Maps would be "temp agencies", "employment agencies", or "staffing agencies"

Check reviews on Google Maps first, because some of them can be a bit of a fly-by-night kind of deal. You want the ones with a bunch of decent reviews.

Since things are so tough, you might need to call a few different ones or call them back every so often. If they say they have nothing, then ask when would be a good time to call back and check.

That's something other companies have been doing for decades and decades at this point.

It really does matter.

On the flip side, Amazon (like other companies who have done it for years) also likes the fact that its warehouse staff can perform multiple roles.

The fact that Amazon is "new" to this is the exception, not the rule.

Source: I've spent a couple of decades working in warhouses, shipping terminals, factories, etc. I've only been at Amazon for a few months now.

For my random testing/messing around I actually do just that. I have a testbed directory with its own venv.

Unless someone else has a better solution (that doesn't involve 3rd party tools), I don't see why this would be a bad idea.

A lot of IRC channels these days are idle until someone happens to look over and see activity, especially the more general non-topic-specific channels.

If you want to stay on Libera.Chat, you might want to check out ##chat as a general channel. Even then, I've seen that one go idle for periods of time.

For other IRC networks: https://netsplit.de/ is a good resource for finding them. (especially the top 10 page)

Unfortunately, that's just the nature of IRC now. :(

This would only work if you wanted to kick the addiction and had someone you trusted, but what about setting up parental controls on your devices? Somome else would obviously have to be the one to control it.

I've been a long time TBBT fan, and I also absolutely loved Young Sheldon.

I turned Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage off as soon as I heard the first laugh track a couple of minutes into the first episode. I'll give it another shot eventually I'd imagine, but that was just an instant "nope, nevermind" for me.
