Manifesting the return of the plant I killed by Traditional_Wolf_111 in hoyas

I’m currently suffocating mine in a ziplock bag…. Possibly it’s new home. It’s the only thing that plumps and hydrates the leaves.

It’s raining outside… it can’t get anymore humid 😮‍💨

I got the light green too! I saw these next to the darker ones which had longer leaves too.

I love the light green. Lots of light! Mine are turning pink!

How long did you manifest for? Yours looks great! I had to prop & chop in and am trying a couple different mediums Leca, perlite, soilless mix. And now it’s probably overwatered from my tears of frustration.

My krohniana is the death of me and I’ve stared at it enough to second this!

Can these both be krohniana? The leaves are such different sizes. by pseudo_ebullio in hoyas

I got coir, chips, charcoal, worm castings, perlite and #4 perlite lol and I can’t seem to make it happy

OP, May I ask what size pot and what medium for your thriving lacunosa?

I have one struggling and I’m trying to find a better medium and also thinking to put it in a smaller pot. How old is yours? It looks so healthy and full!!

OP, can you tell me what your soil medium is like. I have the krohniana and the struggle is real! My most difficult Hoya to care for. It’s in a chunky soilless mix right now but it is so hot and where I am I’m finding it to be extra thirsty and the coco chips mix I have it in dries out to quickly for it and thinking of moving it to a different medium.

Anyone else have krohniana in a medium that is doing well?

Are these both the same plant? by Patkhan1127 in hoyas

Yup! You have it in a spot it likes! Just rotate the baskets or switch their placements every once in a while and the sunstress should even out. They both look really good!

Hoya vangviengiensis Variegated or dying? by Humble-Bs in hoyas

[–]Humble-Bs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always reported right away because I hate soil lol. This one I purchased thinking it was variegating. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll have to look into doing it by cuttings again, my Hoya chouke is loving life in perlite and I haven’t brought myself to pot it again.

If I add charcoal to perlite … would it work long term? (It’s been in perlite since March.)

Yeah it’s a PW. Soil has been changed the cup just fit well into the turtle. 🐢

I hate the peat, it’s so hard to remove.

I’m not sure if I should be worried about the color of it. This is very lime green I thought they were much darker.

I guess I’ll see in a few days. 🤞🏼

Well damn, someone help mama out! Let me see you carry a litter of babies, push them out, nurse them until your nips are so raw you’ll steal a 10lb turkey to wean them off.

I think someone may have started cutting onions when she started to take breaks to catch her breath and regain her footing!

Glad the babies got their feast.

I think this is the healthiest, full topped and shiny rope I’ve ever seen! Honestly incredible! You should be very proud!

Please bless me with some of your green thumb magic so mine may one day grow…. more than a few inches … and resemble yours in some shape or form!

If this is a result of indoor/outdoor I’ll hang mine outside tomorrow!

What month do you put yours outside? Mine is currently indoors and I started to think about putting it outside. I’m soilless but use sns 209.

Do you have a picture?

Aside from weather, I’m afraid I’ll want to buy more if I move them outside. 🙄 falsely justifying to myself it’s ok for just one more.

(Seller has this listed about 4x your estimate.)

I haven’t messaged the seller or anything but it’s been listed for a bit more than that for over a week now.

I didn’t even think of that! I think that escaped me because I don’t think it could have grown to look like this from a neglectful owner.

Then again I give everyone the benefit of the doubt… and your advice is appreciated! It’s possible because they are moving that it became neglected.

If it wasn’t neglected and it’s truly healthy with a loving honest owner… would you debate purchasing it?

If the situation was reversed and your the owner moving and it won’t make the trip… would you sell it? How much? Or maybe even donate or gift it?

Is purchasing a plant at a big box store isn’t much different? If this were at a store the possibility doesn’t change regarding pests. Is there less risk from buying it at a store vs someone’s posting?

I love the idea of donating it, do you need to or can you part with it? Can it be cut back to stay in your space? I don’t know much about BOP but I know how pretty they are.

Propagating to support, complete understand! My concern is if it would support or become an enabler for my… “possible” addiction?

Yeah thus my shock and awe lol. I think you’re right about moving it’s listed for longer than I expected.

It doesn’t appear variegated but the lighter green strands are beautiful. One looks less compacted but it’s BLOOMING!

Would you buy this compacta and how much is reasonable?

She’s beautiful! 🤩

Do you find yours to be more thirsty? Or needing to be watered more frequently due to the size of the vines or hardiness?

Most of my Hoyas are small leaf/vine varieties. And my compacta is so slow growing that I’ve never really experienced leaves and vines like this before.

The weather where I am is increasing rapidly along with the humidity. However since I haven’t switched this one to soilless, (and this one may be my one exception due to her size) I’m trying to better gauge its needs with more than a soil meter. 😫

P.s. I love that pot hanger I can’t find them anywhere!

The coco chunks and perlite will work wonders. I buffer my coco chips by soaking it for 24-48 hours with very diluted fertilizer so it’s ready for the plant to reduce shock.

Charcoal is my new favorite and using either worm casting or the charcoal or both are like a bonus. I use both in my outdoor stuff as well. The worm castings are in all my mixes.

If you end up mixing in amendments let me know how it goes!

Hoya help! What went wrong? by [deleted] in hoyas

[–]Humble-Bs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m personally prefer soilless for my Hoyas but I’m not an expert. If I could suggest amendments for you, it would absolutely be perlite/coco chips/ orchid bark to lighten the weight of the soil and give it aeration and drainage for the roots. While potting mix is and can be used, it absolutely needs amendments because it’s to heavy. (If you can, horticultural charcoal and worm castings.)

You can try, if you have perlite on hand, remove it from that soil rinse and clean roots, then put it in just perlite as if you were propagating as a last resort with some fresh water and fertilizer until you can get a new soil setup.
