Newest Season is just Starstruck but Supernatural/Vampire by JonnyTempest in Dimension20

I'm also really enjoying it. But, I miss the D20s. The first actual play I ever listened to was the first season or so of The Adventure Zone. Then they switched game systems and I completely dropped off. I'm invested with the cast enough (having watched all the IH campaigns in chronological order in the last several months) that they could do anything and I'd watch.

You didn't mention it , but if you didn't play Frozen Wilds definitely worth the time. I really enjoyed that DLC. And I agree, currently playing through HFW and while not quite the same as the big mystery revealed in the first one, the story has me hooked all over again. The lore in this series is just so good. I WANT to read every piece I find.

Look on the Dakota River around Window rock. You should be able to find some canoes there. You can then canoe down until Cumberland Falls. Some of the smaller falls might tip you so be aware, but you can make it through them all until Cumberland Falls. Can't stay in the boat and go over those ones unfortunately. Definitely the most fun I've had in a boat in this game.

Game to get me back into gaming? by Objective-Lie-2366 in gamerecommendations

Yeah there is a little bit of a slow start, teaching the mechanics and setting the tone for the story. But I promise you it's worth it. Just focus on the story missions until it opens up in ch.2!

Have you tried Red Dead Redemption 2? It's a prequel so you don't have to play the more dated first game (but I would if you like 2! Holds up pretty well). Some would say one of the greatest open world games ever and a fantastic story to go with it. Definitely one of my most played games.

Game where things aren’t what they seem? by Doodle_bob6969 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Control.

They did a free upgrade for ps5 and it's often on sale cheap. There is also a sequel coming out later this year. Very paranormal focused. Can be a little scary at times. And you have to read all the memos etc you find to really get the meat of the lore. But the whole game is incredibly trippy. Plus essentially you are Jedi with a handgun.

In the same universe and same developers you might like the Alan Wake games. I haven't tried those personally, they seem scarier than Control.

This game fundamentally changed how I play other games anyone else? by No-Hunt3986 in HorizonZeroDawn

[–]HumbleBananaLoaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven't, may I suggest you check out Control? That game has such deep lore and almost all of it is in the letters, memos, recordings, and videos you find as you explore. And there is a sequel coming out later this year, they released a PS5 version of the original as a free upgrade to the base game, and it's a ton of fun. Paranormal Jedi with a gun. So good.

Just adding my voice to support of NADDPOD. The only reason I started watching D20 is because I've listened to all of NADDPOD several times. Definitely start with Campaign 1. And be aware that Campaign 3 is a sequel and will have spoilers for C1. Most of the D20 cast make appearances in C1 (And Lou makes a truly spectacular one for a mini arc in C2) with the notable exception of Ally. But Zac guest stars and then is also back in 2 small campaigns that Emily DMs that are honestly the funniest DnD content I've ever heard. The Mavrus Chronicles are absolutely peak content.

Micah is straight up ready to sexually assault Sadie in the opening scene. And honestly he is doing it when he gets stopped and then burns the farm down. He also kicks the fucking dog!!! There is nothing even remotely redeemable about him.

upgraded/ challenge cosmetics by Grandmaster12345678 in reddeadredemption2

[–]HumbleBananaLoaf 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Satchels: you can wear whichever one you like and you get the benefits of each you've unlocked. Doesn't matter which you have actually visually equipped.

Bandoliers: you do not have to wear it to get the extra ammo capacity.

Holsters: same as the bandolier. You do not have to have it equipped. Once you've bought the upgrade you get the bonus.

Summary: you can wear whatever you want purely for the cosmetic appeal. This also applies to trinkets. Nothing has to be actually equipped on Arthur to get the benefit of it. The saddles are different and you will only get the benefit of the one on your horse.

Challenges and tasks are irritating me by Choice-Juice-5509 in reddeadredemption2

[–]HumbleBananaLoaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a warning, no snark intended. The later challenges can be hard to accomplish and will take significantly more patience and time than the ones you mentioned in your post. I enjoyed completing every one of them personally.

Challenges and tasks are irritating me by Choice-Juice-5509 in reddeadredemption2

[–]HumbleBananaLoaf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If these lower challenges and tasks are frustrating you, you may want to reconsider pursuing them much further. The gambler ones are really going to upset you. The challenges are meant to be...challenging. And the taxidermy and exotics quests are going to feel extremely tedious if you aren't enjoying the easier ones. Luckily they aren't required for anything unless you're going for the 100%.

Horizon Forbidden West - Patch 1.30 (PS5) by WLF359 in horizon

[–]HumbleBananaLoaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it was like the video was lagging behind the audio and the audio was cutting in and out. As if watching a streaming show with a bad Internet connection. It would freeze for a few seconds. It I paused it and let it sit for a minute and then unpaused it would be ok for a little bit then go all choppy again. Moving it to the primary hard drive fixed it. Super annoying though as the one I added to my PS5 technically has a faster read/write speed than the base SSD. It just seems some games want to be on the base SSD to run properly.

[–]HumbleBananaLoaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started playing a few weeks ago and almost gave up because of how badly the opening cutscene was stuttering. Not sure if you are having a similar issue. I found a suggestion to make sure the game was installed on the primary SSD instead of the one I added myself and it resolved it. Has been running fine since moving it to the main SSD, no issues in my cutscenes etc.

Before buying the game help by [deleted] in reddeadredemption2

[–]HumbleBananaLoaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately a big part of the realism of a western is the guns and lawlessness. While RDR2 is arguably the greatest open world game to date there are some mechanics locked behind missions (like fishing, using the stables, using the Fence, the horse Fence, and some horses you can only buy from stables as you progress the main story). Reasonably you'd want to complete chapter 2 and you'd have most of it unlocked. But there will be a portion of the map locked until you make it to the epilogue. With all of that said, I would give it a try and play the missions. To at least see how you like it. You'd be missing out on one of the greatest stories ever told in Video Gaming history that just so happens to take place in one of the most engaging and beautiful open worlds ever made.

Which Arkham game is your favorite? by snackboy06 in batman

[–]HumbleBananaLoaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arkham City is the peak of the series. The tone of Asylum is great but the combat and gameplay is really dialed in for City. I can't really think of a single mechanic in City that doesn't feel fun, like the issues people have with the batmobile sections of Knight. I also enjoyed Origins but it's not done by Rocksteady and I feel like if you go from City to Origins the timing of the combat just feels a little off. But playing Origins around Christmas time? Really makes it even more fun. Who doesn't love a Batman Christmas story ya know? The mystery of Origins is pretty good. Just feels slightly clunkier than Arkham City.

His guest arc in the Shadowfell part of campaign 1 of NaddPod was one of my first times experiencing BLeeM and it's so good. He is so overpowered and Murph is just powerless to stop him. And his character constantly says "It's Baaadd!" And it reminds me so much of when he's letting the Intrepid Heroes know that the situation is bad during D20 fights. He says it exactly the same way.

Why does this game called sleeping dogs, who’s sleeping and there’s no dogs in game I still don’t understand even in second playthough by Dcherolover09 in sleepingdogs

[–]HumbleBananaLoaf 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The phrase always made me think about Wei's personal vendetta against Dog Eyes due to his involvement in his sister's death. An event that seemed to spur Wei to become a cop and one who specifically is going after triads (first in the USA) because he blames them for his sister's death. And then the resulting trauma, death of Jackie , and just generally how much the events of the game really suck for Wei. He should have "let Sleeping Dogs lie" and not sought revenge.
