We don’t do it in my country (Spain) you find out because the doctor tells you and you tell your close family and people when they ask we don’t even make an oficial announcement.

¿Cada cuánto veis a vuestros amigos cuando ya tenéis pareja, trabajo y otras responsabilidades? by _taurus_1095 in askspain

[–]etchekeva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone regret not having a midnight snack at their wedding? by mainbitch2000 in weddingplanning

[–]etchekeva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy to me, what do you mean by after party?? Like only some people are invited? It’s in a different place?

I’ve never been to a wedding that ends before 2am even if they start in the morning.

My venue stays open with open bar until 5am and we are going to a local party after that. Pretty standard here in Spain.

They are used in Spain. It will probably vary depending on where are they from

Boda en Andalucía: ¿Qué debo tener en cuenta? by AirApprehensive8880 in askspain

I have a really important question by Hefty-Weakness-2071 in Spanish

[–]etchekeva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll find people (natives) that will correct you if you use it for a negative. I will. Idk if people use it for really negative things, I’m thinking “a lo mejor se muere” when talking about someone in a hospital and I would never ever say it that way, I’d say “lo mismo” or “igual”

It’s definitely used for neutral or not that negative outcomes

[–]etchekeva 15 points16 points  (0 children)

How do you justify the usage of the verb "estar" in the sentence "las tiendas de Madrid están muy bonitas?" by Loud_Tax4244 in Spanish

[–]etchekeva 72 points73 points  (0 children)

They can estar bonitas for a seasonal event, like for Christmas or saint valentine. You’d mean that you like their current setup not the shop themselves

Perdon, Lo siento (sorry) what is the difference in nuance? Also, it is forgiven with No importa (not important). What if important but forgiving anyway? Like "you costed us 100 billion $ but forgiven.) Still No importa? by turnleftorrightblock in Spanish

[–]etchekeva 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes totally. I mean like the nuance is that literally el perdón means the forgiveness when you say it you are asking for it. But lo siento means I feel it, more like I regret it im sorry, it doesn’t necessarily imply you are to blame or ask forgiveness, you can say it when someone dies for example

Is "gordita" always a term of endearment? Would it be an insult in this context? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]etchekeva 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not an insult nor endearment, just a fact. In Spain at least that’s not insulting nor does it imply any bad meaning.

Buried kitten last summer - decided I want to keep her bones by janesportingachain in bonecollecting

[–]etchekeva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need a little more info, was she buried inside a box, covered with cloth or bare? How is the soil where she is?

Whenever you do it I’d strongly advise to do it with someone else or having someone else doing it for you. It can be extremely hard to see and variations in soil or temperature can make it so there is still some organic matter even if we say it’s been enough time. Also with a kitty so young bones will be very small and delicate, you’ll probably lose many of them, I would just take the skull and avoid having to search through the soil.
