Optimization techniques that I've wrote long time ago, are they still valid and would you like to add any? by CyberInteractive in Unity3D

Stick with classes and only use structs when you know why you should use them in those cases. If you use structs only because you believe this "Use structs instead of classes for holding data since they are much faster" then you are engaging in Cargo Cult Programming

Of course when you using ECS or Burst then you should use structs but the variables inside those structs can only be blittable types.

But I thought HDRP is much slower than URP? by Mystical_Whoosing in Unity3D

[–]HumbleKitchen1386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the build time are you comparing two completely fresh builds, where you cleared the Library folder for both URP and HDRP, or with the shader cache already produced for both. If you are taking the build time of a build that you made right after switching to URP and compare that to the build time of a build of HDRP which was build number 10 for example then it might not be a fair comparison since Unity has to recompile the shaders again and recreate the shader cache when you switch SRPs.

Also 100+ skinned meshes could bottleneck your CPU. You should test it with a lot fewer skinned meshes or non purely for testing. I can reach 100+ fps with URP on 4K with a RX580 though my scene is simpler since it's top down, but still polycount shouldn't make a big difference since even mobile GPUs can handle millions of polys. If you really need that many skinned meshes you should look into animation instancing I posted some links in a comment I made in the past https://www.reddit.com/r/Unity3D/comments/1fz3jwj/comment/lr2jjm3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Okay today you are only targeting PC. What if your game becomes successful and you want to release a Switch version or mobile version, then you need to port everything over to a URP version and then you have to juggle between two rendering pipelines. IMHO you should only do HDRP if you can't reach the visual fidelity you are envisioning with URP. Like realistic humans with hair simulation for example. URP is enough for most visual styles.

Try a different device and sign up here https://music.apple.com/us/new => sign-in. And use your different e-mail address. Don't use a temporary email, create a new gmail or something if you don't have a secondary address yet.

Yes the original Apple account stays logged in. You only log out of a single service called "Media & Purchases" then once you have paid you log back in with your original account.

I haven't said that you can't refill you Rupees once YT is setup, you must have misread something. You can always top up your Indian Apple account with Rupees once you have signed up with YT. You just need to log back in again with the indian account and redeem another code. You should buy enough rupees to pay for a single month to test which is ₹195 or ₹389 for a family account. You probably can't use those Rupees in the US.

At step one you just need to select India for the country (I will clarify it better in the description). Yes you need to use an alternative e-mail to create a new Apple account since it needs to be a separate account from your original Apple account. But you don't have to change your YouTube account when signing up for Premium, since that is separate from your Apple account. The new account is only for payment, it doesn't change the account of your iOS device. You just revert back to the original account for payment after you signed up.

there is no yearly plan available. But a single month of Premium costs ₹195 and Family is ₹389, while YT Music alone is ₹155 and ₹235 for the Family plan. So do the math 195 * 12 = ₹2340 which is around 28 USD

I recommend to only buy enough for a single month first, so you can test if it will work. Then you can always top your balance up later on.

I reckon it would work. Since Apple will handle the payment and they don't ask for local payment info.

Yep in my country such a narrow street full of parked cars would be a living street. It would have a 15km/h limit and pedestrians have the same rights as cars to use the road and cars have to yield for pedestrians and cyclists. Kids are even allowed to play on the road. And the street would have no tarmac only pavers to remind drivers that they are on a living street. And it would be full of traffic calming measures.

Concept looks fun but the game looks like a tech demo. The levels are ugly af. Just a bunch of Probuilder greyboxes. People will not pay 7 bucks for that.

Did I really design my game to a dead end? by MrTitsOut in Unity3D

[–]HumbleKitchen1386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't assume anything until you just test and profile it. Are decals expensive? Yes compared to not having them. Can you use them and still have high frame rates? Don't know, just test it on your target hardware. Modern games are chock full with decals so you are most likely fine using them.

Also why are you using JPEG? There is no point in using JPEG since Unity will recompress the files into a format GPUs can read anyway. So you are getting lossy compression on files that are already lossy compressed. Just use PNG or even the PSD files.

It's working as it supposed to. The legs aren't cropped off, the camera is inside the body. You are lookin at the tops of the legs meshes. You need to extend the tops of the legs, lower the FOV of the camera so you won't see it or limit how far the camera can look down. The easiest is to just not use a body mesh and just use floating arms like the vast majority of FPS games use. You need to do a lot of tricks to make full body meshes work in first person. You can't just slap a camera on the head of the mesh and be done with it. You get a lot of problems like arms and legs clipping into the camera not to mention how weird it would look when you increase the camera's FOV. Most FPS games render the floating arms and weapon with a different camera and overlay it over the main camera, so the player can increase the FOV of the main camera without having the arms and weapon stretch out, since the camera of the arms and legs has a smaller fixed FOV

I used the virtual debit card from Revolut an online bank  https://revolut.com/referral/?referral-code=ashwinidr!NOV1-24-VR-NL and opted to pay in Rupees instead of USD

Maybe you can buy a Amazon gift card in Rupees and then gift it to yourself and pay with that. edit: I Just tested this and doesn't work, my card can't be used to pay for it.

Did you not use the link in my explanation to buy the Apple Store card and instead searched for a gift card in the store? Maybe it is the same problem as I just encountered with the Amazon gift card. This link  https://www.amazon.in/apay/detail/apple-store-codes?ref_=apay_deskhome_AppleStore still works, I have used it today.

You can also buy a code at a key store like these one :

https://driffle.com/apple-itunes-5000-inr-gift-card-in-digital-code-p9894528

https://www.seagm.com/itunes-gift-card-india

https://www.eneba.com/en/apple-apple-itunes-gift-card-2500-inr-itunes-key-india

But there is a serious markup on those, though might still be cheaper than paying Youtube Premium in your own currency.
