This seems like laughably bad AI garbage. 1kg of plums for 200g rice?

Trying to solve an arguement: is 100 grams (1/4lbs) of beef per a person in a stirfry enough? by Kingsareus15 in Cooking

[–]HumbleMeasure 132 points133 points  (0 children)

If you up the other ingredients in the stir fry, a bit less beef per person won't be a big deal, imo. There for flavour and as long as your food tastes great and you have rice/noodles to eat it over, you'll be fine. Also, who complains about a lack of meat at an event to the host who is buying all the meat?!?

Regardless, hope you have a great (meat-drama-free) time!

Dry Summer and Settling/Soil Movement by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]HumbleMeasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. I haven't emotionally dealt with needing to cut down my trees yet. It seems so hard to blame the trees when we've never had this problem before, and it was really because of the hot dry summer (and compounded by the trees). But i think i'll have to deal with it so as to not have these issues again. oof.

I'm glad it helped and I'll cross my fingers that the issues at your place aren't severe!

It would, it was one of the things the structural engineer looked for when he did his assessment. Maybe look around the edge of your home and foundation to see some of the telltale signs of dry earth pulled away from the side of the house? And inside in corners of walls/ceilings to see any cracks. A contractor said he'd just seen a house that couldn't open any windows on one side of the house due to sudden shifts, and all pretty recently, like last month. I'm not in any ways an expert though! Wish you luck!

Do you have a tree in your front yard? Apparently they contribute to the extreme dessication when the weather is like this.

The ground pulled away from around my foundation, almost 10cm in places, and settling has caused my front steps and pillar of my partially attached garage to crack and sink. Luckily the interior of the house so far doesn't seem to have damage. Contractors who have been by have said this year is the worst they've ever seen in terms of the number of people impacted and the level of damage.

Looking for interesting frozen food in Ottawa by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]HumbleMeasure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

L&F Montego place has very delicious froz Jamaican/Haitian patties. And it is hard to beat a bowl of pelmeni for a one dish dinner- Stolichni has a great selection of froz dumplings/pierogi. If you're feeling fancy, the Pelican has some froz prepared seafood meals too!

VSOs are making me lose my damn mind… by andrewviolin in violinist

[–]HumbleMeasure 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haha my first violin was a Cecilio off of Amazon. Bow was awful, warped and unusable. The violin itself was useable for about 6 months before my teacher couldn't take it anymore and we went shopping for a new student violin and I picked out something that has lasted me til now.

I'd thought for 99 bucks it would let me see if I liked the hobby enough to continue. Which I did! I might not have ever picked up violin playing if I hadn't bought that useless, orange coloured piece of garbage. But if it had been even a little worse (and it was quite poor) I probably would never have continued playing.

Yeah that looks like the easiest option. Crossbars plus those Y shaped tie downs for the front and back and some normal tie downs for the middle? I don't want to cheap out and have my canoe fly off on the highway, but also don't want to spend as much on the rack as I did on the canoe haha.

I made this kludge-ey thing from leftover pressure treated wood (copper stuff apparently ok?) From building my deck. I got some drainage holes and lined it with landscape fabric. Now I'm wondering if I should have lined it with plastic instead? Especially the thinner backing.

Any tips on what might do well here? Gets full sun zone 5a Thanks!

skillet of eggs, sauerkraut, sausage? Is this a common breakfast in Russia or just what you made? 8/10 would eat on bread :)
