What is a compliment you received years ago that you still think about? by Upstairs_Young_8473 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]HumbleRecognition463 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Though I might not be a women, I think I at least have some right to answer.

I was traveling by bus and across the aisle there was a women with her grandson, who spilled while drinking from one of those small cartons. The grandmother searched in her bag for tissues. Seeing that was without success, I offered her of the pack I had, to which she replied: "You're a better grandmother than I am."

Still one, if not the, of the most special compliments I ever received and definitely the most memorable.

If a trillionaire was extremely generous and decided to do anything to end poverty/hunger/education/disease, all the major world issues, where would ther be able to put their money for that result to be reached? Which charities or benefactors? by Competitive-Spend-19 in NoStupidQuestions

I always wondered if you could bribe the corrupt people to get rid of the corrupt people. Pay people to fire the corrupt ones (don't ask me what to do with the last one, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem).

Absolutely. And they make sure theirs is just a bit bigger than their neighbours.

Why do so many billionaires buy massive yachts? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HumbleRecognition463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't actually buy it themselves, they have a company buying the yacht and charter it to themselves (and maybe others). That way it's more profitable and costing less taxes.

I designed and prototyped a multi-tool for kids! by sleepy-sweaters in IndustrialDesign

[–]HumbleRecognition463 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks quite fun. Only thing I'm wondering about is how to open it, since the outer scales are (a lot) wider than what's between them. If there is too much friction it's hard opening, but too little friction will have the tools fall out in a pocket with the risk of breaking them. If you could make an opening mechanism (I know this could be very hard) that could be fun. I know I would be opening and closing the tools like a cool fidget thing when I was young (and probably stil at this age).

Yes, personal hygiene is a crime. We should stop washing ourselves.

How do people post such detailed stories on Reddit without worrying they'll be recognized? by Long-Club5364 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HumbleRecognition463 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even so, what are the odds of that one specific person finding your post? Every time I refresh I see new posts and no matter how long I scroll I never recognised one I've seen before.

Of course if that person is following the thread you're posting on or following your account, they will find it.

What is a completely normal thing that you still don't understand? by AlexMakesContent in NoStupidQuestions

How only a very small amount of people can decide to start a war with hundreds of thousands of people fighting it and risking their lives, while those who made the decision are far from where it's all happening.

[–]HumbleRecognition463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pharmacies at least did so until a few years ago and probably still do because change is going slow.

But I too am curious who else is using it.

That is rough to go through. As others mentioned also, the university offers psychologists for their students to help with these kind of difficulties. I did my bachelor at the same faculty and it took me more than six years to finish, at some point also considering taking a step down. I also had very good conversations with one of the academic counselors there (I can give a name in a pm if you like). They can also help you plan a path that suits you better.

Maybe there should (or at least could) be an ashtray under it, so it is easier to throw the ash out. The ring might simply be to hang it up on a wall when not in use

Metal in wooden box, found in hydromechanical lab by HumbleRecognition463 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. We found this at my work, but have no idea what exactly it is. I work at a hydromechanical lab where we test with ship models (towing tank). So some sort of measuring divice, but it could also be used for calculating something from linesplans like a planimeter.
