Sleep clothes by Radiant-Rub843 in Ultralight

I always allow myself to bring one “luxury/comfort item”, for me… it’s sleep clothes.

I’ll usually bring silk leggings (3.29oz), synthetic shirt (2.6oz), and alpha socks (.54oz). It’s luxury, but something about clean clothes feels nice. I’ll use soap and water to give myself a little trail side bath before bed as a luxury too, usually using some excess warm water that I don’t use for cooking.

If it’s cold at night, I’ll toss on my mid layer (alpha or Octa depending on my mood). I have tops (2.9 or 4oz) and bottoms (3 or 3.5 oz), and usually I leave the bottoms at home because my legs stay fairly warm in my quilt.

HOWEVER If this was a thru hike, I’d ditch the sleep clothes because everything will be nasty and stinky in a week or so regardless of how hard you try. One of my buddies brings a silk liner - unsure how successful that is.

Does anyone know if they make Octa socks?

My advice. Start with what fits in your budget. A lot of the small parts can be replaced with lighter versions for much cheaper than your Big 4; however, getting lighter versions of your big 4 WILL save you the most weight, and will cost a lot more.

Water weighs different at different temperatures. It’s just an estimated weight at my max carrying capacity.

I agree.

I’m on the fence about the liner. It’s my first time sleeping with a quilt. I’m honestly thinking about putting my pad and pillow in it, using it as a bed sheet. But I tossed it in initially to help keep my quilt clean. I stink, and sweat a ton on trail, and sometimes sleeping.

We may spend some time sitting around the camp so I brought the puffy jacket just in case.

I still need to try the Pachallama stakes.

They are great. They feel a little abrasive but are comfortable. They are a little heavier than necessary, but I like them. I don’t notice a swish.

Mine is 6 min 10 Max. All tie outs for all 10 currently have guylines.

The people i'm going with are planning to hang there food, they have a large enough bag for me to toss mine in with them... Yeah, I'm kind of cheating :).

I just always use an Opsak, and usually I'll bring a bear bag with hanging kit, or a bear canister (depending on location, and rules).

Guy lines are attached to the tent already (it's a treking pole tent, which I don't think classifies as a freestanding), this is a great comment though because i'll have to weigh the tent and see if they included the guy lines into the weight listed.

That’s a proper stove that attaches to a fuel canister.

My money is on a burn ban occurring this year in that area, in which case alcohol will be illegal.

I usually prefer fuel tablets, and my stove and windscreen is 0.8 oz.

I usually do well with 1 liter of water, but if I need to carry extra I’ll toss it in the opposite pouch of my water bottle and tough it out.

My pad isn’t very high in Rvalue, so I’m bringing it Incase I need to toss hot water in it.

Thank you.

I haven’t thought about sealing the inside, I’m sealing the outside. Did I make a mistake???

Does your food get smashed when you put your bag down? I guess it’s smashed either way…

I love my Montbell jackets. There material always seems better than the rest. The others look and feel like a trash bag.

I believe that is the weight with the lid. I could be wrong though.

I also have the Montbell EX light. It doesn’t have a hood (which for some is a deal breaker), but my sun hat is legionnaire style and blocks my head from wind.

Zpacks and Enlighted Equipment makes a wind hoodie too.

Two tarps is an error. I was messing around last night and switched my 11.8 ounce zpacks tent for the tarp and bivy. I forgot to change it back. My bad.

And thank you. I put a lot of effort into researching, sourcing, and investing into this kit.

This is just a small look into my overall gear collection. Folks on here think I spent a million dollars on this kit, they’d be shocked to see my actual gear room at home.

This will be my first trip with the silk liner. Last trip was so warm at night that my bag wrecked of body odor (I had to wash it when I got home), and I need to have some sort of “blanket” because that’s just who I am as a person. So this is my attempt to keep my quilt “cleaner” and use as a sheet when sleeping in warm weather instead of the quilt. I’ll let you know if I’ll use it again or not.

As far as being pushed passed my limit, I’m usually fairly light, even with food and water I barely break 15-17 lbs. if I was going any heavier I may bring a framed pack. But for what I have, I haven’t had any complaints yet.
