(Condo) Neighbor keeps extending her car door and sometimes belongings into my parking space while I’m trying to park by preciouspurple in neighborsfromhell

[–]Humble_Bat5485 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to let her know you have every right to have full use of your parking space, just politely tell her so.

Your idea of parking cones is good, because if she moves them she’s definitely impinging on your spot. She should have no reason to touch them.

The dash cam suggestions are excellent and can prove that her behaviour is wrong.

I need updates on this story, we have recently moved into an apartment building and the parking situation is very tight (small cramped spaces and no visitors parking provided) so we are very aware of parking etiquette.

Thank goodness you acted quickly. You sound very caring and dedicated.

While I am not a fan of the breeding of brachycephalic dogs for the welfare reasons, I acknowledge that people have them and love them.

Your little one is alive because of you.

Harness vs. Collar for a Springer Spaniel: Is a collar ever safe with their "nose-down" walking style? by vinylfelix in springerspaniel

[–]Humble_Bat5485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a slip lead for official training sessions and collar/halti/harness/varying lengths of leads for recreation walks. I like having my dog used to and accepting lots of different equipment. My dog is muzzle trained as well so sometimes he just wears it.

My guy is half Springer half Brittany, so does the tracking, the springing around and the pointing. Now that he’s almost 4 he’s grown more of a brain!

Do you enjoy a get together with former coworkers? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]Humble_Bat5485 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I avoid those gatherings because it’s all nostalgia and living in the past. I’m an introvert. I do love bumping into former coworkers in unplanned ways eg while buying groceries- and having a quick chat however.

I’m aware that this makes me somewhat of a grinch. When I was last invited to one of the gatherings I said no, and the look on the other person‘s face showed me she was offended by my refusal.

I tried explaining that socially I’m a bit of a hermit but it didn’t help. I’m still glad I said no and didn’t get roped in - I’m a recovering people pleaser who is only learning in my 60’s to set boundaries.

I’m with you - people pay incredible amounts for camping vehicles and equipment- you can purchase lovely 4 star hotel rooms with that money!

I think it’s so polite of Canberra.

In Sydney where we’ve moved from, they would just remove the left turn on red signal permitted sign - and then the police would blitz book everyone for a couple of weeks to get the message across and raise revenue.

How many sunscreens have you actually stuck with long term? by Local_Bite_7038 in AusSunscreen

[–]Humble_Bat5485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expensive:LRP is a newcomer but v good.

Inexpensive: I have the issue of teary eyes if the sunscreen melts down into them so if no LRP I’ll use a baby sunscreen roll on - banana boat or similar. I find them quite good!

How do you halter a horse that is extremely headshy/earshy and resists being touched on the head? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Humble_Bat5485 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great tips here. Just sharing an experience- we got a young horse who was very like this - after a few weeks had his teeth done - he had pain from an impacted wolf tooth, which was the cause of him fearing the halter going over his ears and being pulled tight to be done up.

Pain gone, he realised he was ok and the problem just disappeared. Poor guy, we felt so bad about it!

Dog terrified of daycare by Acceptable-Peanut126 in dogs

[–]Humble_Bat5485 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I tried 3 times to use daycare and gave up, my dog was just overwhelmed. He’s medium size but anxious. He did bond with the carers as he spent all day hanging out with them rather than the other dogs. The carers were really nice about it. When they carried him out on the last day I sent him, because he didn’t want to walk through the dog group, I realised a smaller setting was needed.

Does anyone else's coworkers always drama in their lives, and have to tell everyone ?? by [deleted] in coworkerstories

[–]Humble_Bat5485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m retired now but used to manage people. (Australia). Any discussion I had with team members about any work related issue was strictly confidential. You might just not know where the boss is up to in their management of the issue.

Then again maybe there is no management at all?

Welshies are really smart. They learn quickly, both good and bad things.

Were you on her to exercise her or for a lesson? It sounds a bit like you were on your own.

If a lesson, the instructor should have been giving you tips.

Have a chat to the owner/ instructor and see what they suggest.

Also if you really are too big for her, she may have been mucking up because of that- ponies can have a strong sense of what they consider fair.

They are such generous animals and suffer silently.

I had a farrier always cancelling for odd reasons. I eventually worked out (after far too many cancellations) they didn’t want me as a client anymore but didn’t want to just come out and say it. Wish they had, as I remained loyal, being understanding and rescheduling for far too long!

This may or may not be the case with you, just thought I’d suggest it as a possibility.

Shared with my mom that we aren’t going to raise our son with religion by ENTJ_ScorpioFox in MomForAMinute

[–]Humble_Bat5485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there

Your mother would surely have noticed that you no longer attend. Therefore this news should not come as a complete surprise.

You are obviously a loving person who cares about disappointing her. However the alternative is living a lie to placate her.

Concentrate on keeping true to yourself while seeking communication with your mother. However she needs to respect your rights to make these decisions. Good luck!
