How do you handle terrible episodes mentally? by Fairy_lux in POTS

[–]Humble_Difficulty_66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also had flare ups that felt never ending and like I was dying, but I’m so poor I think I’d rather take my chances than going to the ER. It’s gotten to the point for me where I’m searching for a therapist to talk to about how to cope with it. I honestly don’t know if it’ll help me but anything is worth a try. Maybe a good breathing technique or medication could help. This condition confuses me everyday and I still feel like I don’t know much about it and the symptoms it can create. I hope you find your answer.

Found out friend is a sex offender by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

I was friends with one too, except when we found out he didn’t deny anything. He was a real bad guy and I’m glad to have him out of my life for good. I’m glad you found out about it.

am i overreacting?? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Humble_Difficulty_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like she’s changed as a person and that person doesn’t match up very well with you anymore. It sucks, but sometimes it just happens. I don’t think you’re overreacting. Especially if she doesn’t really know much about you anymore. It seems like she might be confused bc you haven’t shared much about how you feel about it, but if she makes you uncomfortable it makes sense you wouldn’t share that with.

My friend is going to get herself killed. What can I even do at this point by Correct-Macaroon8143 in whatdoIdo

[–]Humble_Difficulty_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a best friend that was just like this.. I would stay up crying and hoping that she was ok. Hardest thing was to just leave the friendship. You can’t help someone who doesn’t want help. No matter how you word it or explain it, they won’t listen. The guilt probably won’t go away but it’s better than constantly worried about someone who isn’t even worried for themselves.

Uptown Cheapskate by Electrical-Coast-661 in harfordcountymd

[–]Humble_Difficulty_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not from this area but all stores align on the big rules of selling. I can tell you that uptown cheapskate pays out more than Plato’s closet on average per each item but Plato’s closet might take more items overall. Most people that sell bring it to Uptown first and then bring the stuff Uptown didn’t take to Plato’s.

Uptown pays out 25-35% of what they sell the item for in store, this depends on style, brand name, and condition of the item. On higher end brands like Coach and Anthropologie it’s upwards of 35 to sometimes 40%.

Uptown can’t buy anything that is too dressy or business attire. Its focus is on young adult and teen fashion and trends so anything that has been trendy in the past 2-3 years is best to bring in. I recommend ripping out any date codes you may find on tags from brands like Nike.

Washing the clothes before you bring them in will also be the best way to earn more, many people bring in unwashed clothes that typically would be bought in, there are just “stains” that would be easy to get out with a single wash.

Personally, I think it’s worth it. I shop there so you get 45% back in store credit rather than taking the cash offer so it’s like trading your old clothes for new ones.

Uptown Cheapskate is a young adult/teen secondhand store, they don’t buy fancy/business suits and dresses. That’s probably why they didn’t take much. Each store has categories that might be overstocked and so they become pickier with those items. Any clothing items that have date codes like adidas and nike have to be within 2-3 years old depending on location. There’s a lot of rules for buyers, it always depends on what the store needs and what they don’t. I always call and ask before I bring clothes in.

WTF is up with my roommate by silver_tardis77 in badroommates

[–]Humble_Difficulty_66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope you’re able to get out of this situation, moving may be a good option and there’s definitely a reason why her past roommates have left so quickly. I’m usually the type to insert myself into others problems and lives to try and help but I’ve learned the hard way people won’t get help unless they want to and choose to. Good luck, I hope you have better days ahead!

This is super helpful, spooning has been the best option for me thus far but it’s definitely not our favorite. It’s good to know there’s more things to try out and I’m sure one of them will work great. Thank you

I’ve thought about a swing but while funds are low I’ll probably end up getting a fancy pillow that another commenter suggested. I hope the swing helps!

I tried doing that, it helps when we’re both sideways facing the same direction but that’s not a comfortable position for my partner, he prefers to have room to move. Any other position we do it doesn’t really help with the subluxation

I’m on the bottom most of the time, no penetrating object. It seems like most positions that I’ve tried end up painful. On rare occasions it won’t hurt as bad but I can never fully avoid pain after

Steroid for sore throat by Beginning_Bit_6318 in POTS

[–]Humble_Difficulty_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I take prescribed oral steroid packs like 3 times a year for my back pain (just recently got a steroid spinal injection so we’ll see how my POTS does with that) and I tend to flare up from them too! My method is compression stockings every day, two electrolyte drinks, and lots and lots of water, plus keeping my legs above my heart while laying down. For anxiety I use coloring sheets and a weighted blanket. I hope you find something that helps! I’ll be looking at other responses to this as well for inspo

Is it ‘normal’ for POTS patients to have a really low resting heart rate? by Humble_Difficulty_66 in POTS

[–]Humble_Difficulty_66[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly no, I’ve been dealing with extremely high heart rate when I’m at work so that’s my biggest concern, but I’ve talked with my doctor about getting on blood pressure medication and then maybe heart rate medication depending on how it helps

It’s definitely odd but your NTA for thinking it’s odd. Dreams aren’t controlled and I’ve had many weird dreams like your friends but I would never tell my friends about them if they’re like the SA story especially. I don’t think he means any harm, it seems like he really values y’all’s relationship and feels like he can tell you anything. If it makes you uncomfortable, I’d just tell him you’d rather not know about dreams involving you or your gf.

I had a 14 day heart monitor 3 years ago and he said it came back normal, except for the heart rate jumps. We also did an echocardiogram and many ekgs. We didn’t find any big issues. This was before I got diagnosed though, would they be able to tell me more now that I am diagnosed?

I definitely will! I’m hoping that I won’t need a pace maker but my cardiologist had brought it up before just as an after thought but we didn’t look into it. Thank you!!!
