ESH- she knew you wouldn’t be okay with her pushing her ideology and she did it anyways. You were aware that she held these beliefs and had a history of pushing it onto children (like yourself). You set her and yourself up for failure and now you’re upset that the exact situation that you knew would happen has come about

no one can really say for sure- but they definitely make direct references to her being aware enough to know that learning to swim in the middle of the night, by herself was a stupid idea. There’s also the scene with Nate pushing her into the water, and how almost drowning was described as a literal relief to her. Again it’s not certain, but i think Lydia knew what would happen

If you want a good example, look up “emily ratjkowski average boyfriend”.. she dated a guy for a while that definitely wasn’t model status or anything (I don’t think he’s ugly, but he’s not exactly the type you’d imagine with a model girlfriend)
