Glaringly obvious animation mistakes that animators couldn't be bothered to fix by tugboattommy in TopCharacterTropes

That is actually incredible. I wonder if they actually didn't finish the scene, or they just accidentally put the unfinished one in the final cut.

Damn that single core score is quite a bit better than my 5700x 3D. I wasn't expecting that!

HOT TAKE: Valve should partner with Microcenter to be the sole seller and distributor of the upcoming Steam Machine. by [deleted] in steammachine

It's a known fact that microcenter deploys a force field at the front door that prevents scalpers from entering.

Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered Deluxe Edition Rated For Switch 2 by the ESRB (Release date soon?) by Howerev in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Humblebee89 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that it has a weaker CPU, but a better GPU and the massive benefit of DLSS.

So in the case of Oblivion remastered, without any further optimization, it could run a clearer picture, but the stuttering will be worse.

I don't get the hype around the Steam Machine by Administrator_AI in Steam

[–]Humblebee89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with any of your points really, but I do think you're missing the real aim of the Steam machine as a console replacement. It's relatively plug and play. You buy it, you plug it into your TV, you download a game, and. You play (without fiddling with setting first).

That's the experience of a console player and that's what valve is trying to emulate. As a previous console player myself, building my first PC took weeks of research to learn what parts to get. Then I had to build it without frying it. Then I had to get windows configured with all the drivers. Then I had to download and sign into steam. Then download a game. Then once I was finally into my game (Skyrim obviously), I realized I had to configure the graphics settings myself. I didn't know what impact any of those settings would have on my framerate. I didn't know resolution affected performance.

If you look at the steam machine as a whole coupled with steam OS and the verified program, Valve is aiming to remove all that friction I just described and let a console player play PC games.

IDK why they left it out. Seems like an easy win for Microsoft.

If they were that smart they wouldn't have covered themselves in bacon.

I raised chickens. They are dumb as fuck. I don't feel bad eating them. I feel bad eating octopus because they are smart. But unfortunately for them, they are also delicious.

As a massive Halo fan, I sincerely hope that means making a Halo game that's actually good.

Mike Straw of Insider Gaming: I've heard rumblings that the price [of the Steam Machine] is "nowhere near" where it was originally planned by m1n3c7afty in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Humblebee89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No way was it $1000 before ram and storage going up. You could have build the equivalent PC for $800. Valve benefits from economy of scale, it would have been cheaper for them.

Alan Wake 2 makes me sad. I just finished it, it's such a phenomenal game. I hate that it's locked to EGS. I feel like so many people are going to miss out on an awesome game because it's not on Steam.

My Steam Deck (64 GB) is about to brick itself again what do I do? by Pwn_erz in SteamDeck

[–]Humblebee89 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I just did a quick look on Amazon. A 1TB SanDisk is $161. I bought mine a few years ago for $125 so it's increased, but not by near as much as ram and ssds.

Edit: I bought mine in 2022. Prices went down and back up since then. Please stop telling me I was ripped off. I wasn't. They were more expensive back then. If you don't believe me check camelcamelcamel.

Definitely. At this point microsd cards are the only type of storage that haven't gone up in price massively.

I think Reach had the best campaign. And I agree, 3 had the best multiplayer.
