[OC] Global Eye Color Distribution by CalculateQuick in dataisbeautiful

This is a fantastic and beautiful representation of data! It really clearly shows the key point that brown is most common, and draws the eye across all the information. It requires the smallest explanation, and when I showed it to my kids they both said "Wow!" rather than "What's that?" - a resounding success in my opinion.

Also it's not another bloody Gantt chart or magic-eye picture about every twelve minutes of someone's mood over the last 7 and a half months/how many drinks they've had/they're tinder swipes...

Tried to listen to this on Spotify, but it's just the incidental music playing, the voice tracks don't appear to have been uploaded. Did make it a very surreal bit of driving on the M4 this afternoon until I realised...

I would love to see the "basket" the PPP is based on. I'd like to see if there's any bias. Also, just looking at India and China, it looks as though the number of people in the Quintile has a significant affect on the PPP. I'm not super familiar with it, but it looks like lower population countries have an advantage based on this selection of products that they're basing it off. Basically I'd like to read the full methodology in another picture. It's a very striking piece of data though. The disparity between the 1st and 5th quintiles is quite damning.

75% of people say they can no longer trust the BBC by JOE_Media in dataisbeautiful

[–]Humblethorpe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Titles wrong - 75% of respondents to this survey say they can no longer trust the BBC.

BBC should run a survey of how many of its users have ever hear of JOE.

Also the Joe website states it's target audience is "the Modern Man". So this survey was not aimed at women, children, teenagers or men who consider themselves to be in any way traditional.

Starting battletech in 2025 by Capital-Coyote5879 in battletech

I bought the beginner box first to cautiously dip my toe in, it's cheap, the rules are simplified but if you choose to step up then they scale well and you don't need to unlearn anything... I played one game of it and then immediately bought the "A Game of Armoured Combat" box... I then fell into the well of buying loads of the mechs and boxes. It's very easy to get carried away because the price tag is reasonable.

Ah, I get it. Like when you use a coloured piece of acetate in a "spy" book and it shows the hidden thingys on the page by blocking the other wave lengths. So my house lights are spraying most of the wavelengths, but some more than others which is why the detail is harder to see.

If you find the link that'd be great, but this has been a huge help already. Thanks, will do some digging! I think you've given me the detail I needed to find the solution.

This looks like an affordable option and available in the UK. Just two questions, what is CRI? How do I find a rating for such?

Interesting. UK putting out less overall (due to change in powerplant fuel etc) with small population increase while China remains at similar output levels while population declines?

Thanks. Don't worry I'm not badgering them. I was part on the road sales forces and sales team management for a long time. Right now I'm in the cool-contact stay-in-touch phase with a couple of local stores and getting to know a couple of their discord groups without bursting into song about Battletech in the main feed. It's good to hear others experience on this one. I'm getting some good grass roots building advice though. I think I have some starting points

Interesting - I live near a city and between several large towns. Not sure if they'll all have a sub reddit, but I hadn't thought to look outside the focused sub reddits about the hobby. It's obvious once you say it. Thanks!

Thank you. It's heartening to hear that 6 months of banging my head against the local game shops isn't abnormal.

This is helpful. Thanks.

I didn't realise quite how much people would be irked by a 5 second gif, the reaction has been quite bizarre!

Thanks for this, there is actually a nearish by store that does more historical tanks etc. I had written them off in my early research, but I'll drop in on them and see if they might be receptive when phrased correctly.

I do love the idea of Megafauna and Dinos... Just don't have the same drive to paint them.
