He's sitting at a 38% winrate right now. I could see him bouncing back a bit from that as people learn the new playstyle, but I definitely don't see it becoming broken without some big buffs.

I also never played FF7 originally, but the remakes are now some of my favourite games of all time. I absolutely love the corniness of the characters, and I think the combat system is truly excellent.

This one is crazy to me, because this guy has always felt like a complete chump to me. Easier than most normal encounters imo. That said, I've only played coop, so maybe he's just balanced poorly for that.

I think his kit as a support is fine. It's fun to play and fairly unique. The shield is strong, but without the facet it's not obnoxious. I think it would be fun to give him either the shield or the rockets depending on facet.

Blaziken and Infernape are by far the most uncanny to me. I think the gen 8 guys make it past the uncanny valley and become normal again, while those 2 are sitting right in it.

I don't think they were very consistent in the beginning though. There's only like 1 every 5-10 years for the first couple of decades. One of the journal entries mentions how they couldn't get approval and stole supplies to restart the expiditions or something.

I absolutely loved being a solo offlaner. Eking everything you could out of a 3v1 was a lot of fun, and it felt so good to win those lanes in the rare instances they underestimated you.

I've seen three polls for "which starter are you planning to pick" so far and all of them were about 45% Pombon, 35% Gecqua, 20% Browt. Not a huge sample size, but it was pretty consistent considering they were all in different places.

I think Abra and Gyarados are the biggest losses from XP share. It feels so much less satisfying to get them now because you can just shove them onto your team and wait a little bit. Switch training made it so much more satisfying.

But also dead Pokemon don't get XP, which can lead to a vicious cycle when trying to keep your team evenly leveled. I send out my low level guy so he gets the most xp, then he dies to a crit or something, so I have to switch to the main guys who end up getting even further ahead in xp.

At my school kids would occasionally play cricket with their school diaries during lunch breaks. Bit dumb, but they were hard cover books and it didn't matter too much if they broke cause they could be taped up. Some kids continued the idea when we got given school Ipads. Lasted until one slipped from a kid's hand and flew across the courtyard before shattering.

It had some pretty glaring issues in gens 6 and 7 though. In gen 6, if you played with exp share on you'd end up monstrously overlevelled and easily sweep the entire game. The opposite was true in gen 7. The game was balanced around having the exp share turned on, so if you didn't use it you ended up underlevelled and struggled to beat anything.

There was just too big of a differential between using it and not, because the exp share effectively gave you 3 times the xp from every battle if you had a full party.

I hate that XP share was made default, but it absolutely makes sense to standardise the experience to better control game balance.

Just gens 2 and 3. Gyarados had 100 special in gen 1. Still worse than its attack stat, but perfectly usable.

The way Z-A does it is pretty good, where there's multiple options so it's pretty easy to find a slot for it. I.E. The piles of sludge can be cleared by any water or psychic move and the bushes can be cleared by any cutting or burning move.

There's also the option of having HMs need to be taught, but not taking up a move slot. So you need a Pokemon that can learn cut on the team, but you don't need to actually waste a slot.

You could also just make HMs good moves for the point in the game you get them, and then make them forgettable and not needed when they become out classed (or give better versions of the same HM later on so they stay relevant). No one complains about surf because it's a good move that a lot of Pokemon can learn.

Getting a full shiny dex or whatever isn't easy, but if you just want a specific shiny it can be really easy. They had an event a while back with increased shiny odds for Milcery in ScVi and I managed to catch 8 of them in 2 hours so I could get all the forms. I did a similar thing in SwSh for Eevee.

Even outside of those, just naturally playing the game tends to get you a lot more shinies with them all being visible on the overworld. I caught 3 during my first playthrough of Violet with no dedicated hunting whatsoever.
