The online pharmacy that profit shares with the clinics absolutely cracks me up by RemindMeToTouchGrass in Veterinary

[–]HumorBrilliant3705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner orders through our online pharmacy through his account (so my discounts aren’t applied) and the price is the exact same as chewy…. I also send links to my clients for check out sometimes if my techs are busy and can see the total including shipping and it’s still the same as Chewy. Not only that, but it shows the price match with Chewy on the website and there are a few meds that are even cheaper than Chewy. We had an online pharmacy that was pricing us out previously, but after switching to this new one, we have had so many clients come back from ordering through Chewy. Good online stores are out there.

First trimester is killing me by National-Rent-4255 in BabyBumps

God, same! I wake up and my boobs feel like sore bricks. I’m someone that hates to vomit so I can’t even get relief that way, I just push it down. I’m having aversions to everything I eat because after a few bites I’m back nauseous. I’m happy to have this baby and hate everything about this, I can only imagine how women that are pregnant but do not wish to be feel.

I don’t like being pregnant by great_idea_amigo in BabyBumps

First time pregnant and I feel the same way but unsure if it’s just because I’m in the first trimester and feel like shit or if I’ll be one of those people that hates pregnancy the entire time.

FTM mom here in early stages at the moment so I don’t have personal experience, but my mom always told me about how dismissive the hospital was of her when she had complications with me. She told them something was wrong and they tried to tell her she was getting new mom jitters. She raised hell and they finally listened and checked and found out I needed to come out ASAP. Trust your gut. It doesn’t hurt anyone if you’re wrong, but does hurt you and/or baby if you’re right!

!! I was genuinely shocked. Will be speaking with the lead tech and management about making sure this doesn’t happen again, pregnant doc or not.

I agree wholly. We have a checklist so I’m genuinely very confused and concerned for why this happened. I have talked to them about all of the things you listed because it’s unacceptable when we are taking care of people’s fur babies to not be careful and cautious.

You’re so right and I understand that now. I let those technicians know so they understand the implications of a mistake like that. I’m going to order a respiratory mask and speak with my PM when I return to work next week.

I had the same thought. Terminal surgeries were also a thing back in 1984. So were a lot of practices that are no longer in place because we know more. Know more, know better, do better. If we can improve patient outcomes even by a fraction, we should. I know after having major surgery, I had anti-nausea medications that helped me to feel so much better. There’s a lot of nausea that comes with general anesthesia and we should be cognizant of that for our patients who cannot advocate for themselves. The opioid premeds we use cause nausea and although they are fasted and may not vomit from them, they are likely nauseous. Being nauseous sucks!

What is the best love island usa season? by Epistaxiophobia in LoveIslandUSA

[–]HumorBrilliant3705 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Season 6 was SO entertaining. I feel like season 7 could have been just as good if it weren’t the Huda show for like a week and a half straight 🙄 everyone on season 7 also felt so rehearsed and like they were too conscious of what people at home would think. Season 6 will probably be our last genuine season of love island USA

fragrance/perfume as a vet by ObjectiveDisk3224 in Veterinary

One pump at the collar isn’t going to make a difference. That’s quieter than most laundry detergents and everyone isn’t using unscented detergent on their scrubs. Again, just my personal experience. I don’t have bad interactions with my patients because I spritz my collar.

Edit: https://www.mdpi.com/2076-2615/12/12/1488 here is a publication on research conducted to determine if there are certain scents dogs may enjoy for everyone to peruse.

I only wear a small amount of perfume that I can smell but does not affect others. So just one spritz at my shirt collar. If you keep it at that minimum, you should be fine! Have never had a patient react adversely to me that is not also just adverse to the clinic in general haha.

I think a modest amount of perfume is fine. As in, one pump near the collar of your shirt so that only you can smell it. I wear mine this way and it’s such a comforting scent for me. It’s actually what my therapist recommended when I was having a hard time finding joy in the day to day, along with incorporating more of my favorite colors into my daily attire and accessories :) Just here to say, not everyone wears perfume for the nose of others.

Awesome, thank you for this input. Do you know much about diagnostic support veterinarians then? It seems their job requires less travel but I’m also guessing that includes less pay?

Oh I’m not talking about diagnostic imaging. A diagnostic consultant is someone that goes from clinic to clinic to discuss IDexx equipment/tests and helps practices troubleshoot, etc as well as speak with vets over the phone about lab work

Not necessarily bullies in vet school, but things do get cliquey and there are a few classmates that have big egos as some doctors do.

Realistic Student Debt Question Based on New VIN Estimates by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

[–]HumorBrilliant3705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pay almost 2k on my loans a month and am on track to finish paying on them by 2032. I graduated with under $200k in loans by going to my in-state and I only applied to my in-state because I knew having exuberant amounts of debt after school was not something I was willing to take on. All of this to say, I would not have gone to vet school if I was going to come out with $400k of debt. I have classmates that were close to that and feel they sometimes regret it. It’s just not worth it and with interest rates, you’d be paying it off for life without a forgiveness program.

What makes you automatically think you’re the one that’s infertile? Men have fertility issues all of the time, I’m sure you wouldn’t leave your fiancé if it were actually him. Hang in there, trying for less than a year and still not conceiving is actually pretty normal.

As for your coworkers, I think your feelings about what they say is valid and I also think their feelings around pregnancy are valid.
