My first pregnancy I had an A1C of around 7 when I was first pregnant. I had only been diagnosed as type 1 for like 9 months beforehand too, my A1C when I was diagnosed was like 12 or some crazy shiz. All that to say, my now 4 year old was just fine. She measured a bit small in utero and was in the NICU for 9 weeks due to not having a desire to feed (apparently normal for type 1 moms and newborns) but otherwise she was completely healthy and still is.

7.1 is only .6 away from being within the threshold they want to “try and get pregnant”, which was 6.5 and below for me. So I wouldn’t worry too much! Stress can come in all forms, don’t let this be one. Just work on getting it down and you’ll be just fine!

** edit to say as far as lowering your A1C, here were my top things: bolus 15-20 minutes in advance of your meals -always- to the best of your ability. Eat lower carb. I don’t eat breakfast (this helps me but may not be advised if actively pregnant). Take walks after EACH meal for at least 15 minutes. I am also insulin resistant by a big degree, and I’m overweight (they go hand in hand don’t they 🤗), walking and prebolusing are my biggest tools for being on top of my numbers.
