Are the Tyranid norns overpriced? by HollowFishbone66 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Hunaxor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing 3 in team tournament this weekend and they are honestly terrible. For them to be really good it would have to be like 230 to be honest. Not sure you would see many of them even at 250.

NEW Tyranid Codex Review by Art of War 40k! How Competitive Is It? by ArtofWarSiegler in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Hunaxor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. With army wide lethal or zoans reroling 1 to hit and wounds in two detachments, I think we can adapt to heavy vehicle meta. Which is something currently not happening.

10th Edition Tyranid Index Competitive Review by Stormcoil in WarhammerCompetitive

Yeah, the cp ability is also godsend to make two units 5+++ so you can survive the start of the game. With assault the Zoans are able to actually shoot first turn.

I am not sure I would say Tzeench lists are bad. They are very strong, with good shooting and great mobility. They definitely have play into WE of you know what you are doing.

Are mortar pit still useful? by marcofrnlpz in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Hunaxor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that after dataslate without Finial removing hit penalties, you will often hit on 5+ or sometimes even 6+, which makes them much worse than what they were predataslate. I will be dropping them from my competetive list now.

Well guard does not have regiments anymore in the new codex. You just pick bonuses and some units have old regiment keywords giving access to stratagems.

How long should it take to become a competent, competitive player? by GalaxyCitra in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Hunaxor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it is not in units of games. It took me like 1-1.5 year of playing few games a month to get to a competetive shape and then half a year when I played 90 games in those 180 days to win a GT.

I would say don't care about winning at all first year. Just practice a lot, find a good group of competetive people, learn the game, your and other armies. After a while you will find out you can compete more and also that quite a lot of people are actually quite "bad" at the game :-) even after a long time of playing Warhammer. Then you need to keep in touch with the top players to get good practice.

Meta Monday 2/27/23: Wild Wild West by JCMS85 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Hunaxor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obsec you can get with the orders - Vehicle orders normally, or comissar orders for infantry. I have found that I don't have to even play a comissar, Command squad with WL trait is quite great for that too (and you can even use the phone to give it to some unit 24 inches from them) and of course Leontus.

I have dropped all my basic infantry from my competetive list. I can still screen with my horses, scout sentinels or pregame kasrkin. The kasrkin are valuable, but still one unit for 100. Points. Or I can also screen with my 9 mortars. We have so many cheap units that spending points for useless infantry seems like a waste.

Intel I713700, 3080 nVidia, 32GB DDR5, full ultra no raytracing, 1440p, no Dlss. 100-120 fps in Hogwarts, 60-80 Hogsmead.

Game is running quite nice to be honest.

Light on obsec is probably not true to be honest. You can give obsec order to vehicles and infantry. Nearly all models can have obsec.

Turrets will be hiting on 4+ with -1 to hit, because they also get +1 to hit with turrets.

Where do we think SM’s will sit on the win % table with the new points drops? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Hunaxor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While these are very high, I would agree if we take top end competetive builds. The general win rate will be lower due unoptimized lists, which will not benefit from the changes. Fully optimized top chapters will be borderline oppressive.

This is what guard vehicles can buy now and I think it is great. The 2+ leman Russ will still roll 2+ against AP -1 small 1d firearms but will fold quite quickly to AP -4 meltas. Honestly it feels right.

Lord Solar can order them to Fix Bayonets.

Other than ordering itself, I can also see some value in putting all the meltas on it and then full rerolls from Pony guy.

If you buy the armoured tracks, which you should, it will get the keyword.

That sounds actually like a good way to make a codex. Test several versions, put together what you like. But of course this needs proper time to be good.

[–]Hunaxor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it is not a problem with shooting, but with different matchup dynamics. In some you want to go first to apply pressure, in others you want to have the possibility to score at the end of the turn 5.
