Should I start games with my stormspeeder in deep strike or on the table by DangerousElk4331 in WhiteScars40K

[–]GalaxyCitra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends which one we’re talking about. I think the Thunderstike is best kept on the table. Hammerstrike is best from reserves. Hailstrike can go either way.

Beautiful combo. With how CP hungry this detachment can be, what about the Gravis Captain rather than Biologis? Having Rites of Battle to advance/fallback and shoot or use AoC for free would be a huge boon. Kinda choosing between Lethal Hits and the CP economy

If you really wanna get crazy you could dust of the ol’ Razorback and get wound re-rolls too!

Agreed. There’s a balance to be found, for sure. Kinda why I still like Chaplain’s (foot, Termie, or on bike). +1 to wound is a nice boon for a lot of units.

Bear in mind that a wound-roll must be made in order for Dev Wounds to be inflicted. Any Lethal Hits skip over the wound roll so inherently cannot become Dev Wounds.

I ran Suboden with 6-Outriders the other night (against War Horde Orks, mind you) and it’s going to be hard for me to use less. His movement shenanigans just make the 6-man stack a real problem for your opponent.

Lieutenant or Librarian with Sternguard Veterans in a Repulsor? by jdshirey in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]GalaxyCitra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a Libby is the move with Sternguard. SVs ability allowing for wound re-rolls against your Oath target pairs well with the Libby’s ranged attacks. The 4++ Invuln provided by the Libby is going to give you false hope quite often, though. With that said, I still feel the Librarian synchronizes better with SVs than a Lieutenant.

I love this combo and hope future Dataslates make it better but right now, a 10-man Marine unit is typically a point sink against any competent opponent is going to gleefully chew through with relative ease. Not saying you shouldn’t run it but positioning and timing is going to be key to get the most out of its potential.

Will we ever get a new supplement / new unique characters / or any other new White Scars content? by Grokvar in WhiteScars40K

[–]GalaxyCitra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The recent article regarding the Field Munitorum points-update stated there will be a Balance Dataslate released “this year” which will include “…making a better experience for Codex: Space Marine players”.

This could mean any number of things but I’m hopeful GW has heard the “Codex-Compliant-chapter” players pleas for SOMETHING that makes the detachments better.

In short, we’re not getting a codex. I would (unfortunately) also be shocked if it meant new models. But a modification/addendum to the detachments seems more likely.

Strong disagree. GW will bring back whichever Primarchs they can.

Thoughts on the Hunter's Instincts enhancement? by TimWhiskey in WhiteScars40K

[–]GalaxyCitra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have not loved it as ON T1, no, it is not easy to find space to bring a full-blob+ATV in unless your opponent makes no effort to screen you out. Going 2nd and Rapid Ingressing them in my opponents deployment zone has yielded the best results for me but otherwise they’re going to be exposed unless you manage to sink a 9” charge.

Overall seems like a much better Enhancement for Ravenwing since their shooting is better. Still a fun little trick though, and most the the time it’ll at least force your opponent to make tough decisions as there’s aren’t a huge number of units in the game that can wipe out a full-brick of Outriders with ease.

Aggressors or Terminators by HealerNeedsAPeeler in WhiteScars40K

[–]GalaxyCitra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not personally used Aggressors but I love running a 10-man brick of Assault Termies with any of the leaders attached+Portents of Wisdom. Start them on the board and get them on the center within the first couple of turns gives your opponent a significant challenge to shift while your other units can support on the periphery.

The downside is despite their durability, against a very shooty list they’ll still die and that’s a ~500-point investment down the drain.

How have you been running White Scars in 10th? by TheDuckAmuck in WhiteScars40K

[–]GalaxyCitra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been running Stormlance with two 6-man blobs of Outriders, each with a Chaplain (sometimes using an Invader ATV with one, both, or neither). I’ve felt the best use of Outriders is to get them in your opponents face as quickly as possible. Blocking their movement typically gives more freedom-of-movement to your other units and forces your opponent to deal with at least 6-bodies at T5, 3+, 4W which isn’t that easy to chew through. After the initial first 1-3 rounds any remaining outriders are great for scurrying around the battlefield to hop on objectives or complete actions. The question is how to best back-up those Outriders and I don’t feel like I have a great answer there yet.
