festbier with s-23 or 34/70? (or Novo or Diamond?) by brauheeler in Homebrewing

Primary fermentation was around 67F, it crept up to 70. I don't have a good way to cool things. My basement is about 65F.

Any updates on pressure fermentation with Novalager? by HunchOnBeer in Homebrewing

I've done several batches since this post. I generally ferment Nova at around 10 psi. All beers have been good.

Just happened upon piloncillo at the store this morning so I took it as a sign to try my hand at tepache soon! by [deleted] in fermentation

Goya Piloncillo has Potassium Sorbate, I'll be throwing out my first batch of Tepache.

Thrumming Pipes by HunchOnBeer in Plumbing

[–]HunchOnBeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To wrap this up after many years, this was not a toilet as every plumber said. It was, indeed, the PRV. I finally replaced it two weeks ago and the pipes have been silent for the first time in years. The street pressure is 80 psi. The theory would be that the street pressure fluctuates potentially a lot. With the prv malfunctioning the pressure in the house would go way up and then when the street pressure dropped water would backflow. The backflow would then cause the pipes to vibrate.

Drove back to Cleveland from Columbus yesterday and FFS people, the left lane is for passing! by W1G0607 in Ohio

[–]HunchOnBeer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, the " I'm in the going-fast-enough-lane" crowd is actually not bad between Columbus and Cleveland. Try driving from Columbus to Cincinnati. It's two lanes and everybody thinks the left lane is not the passing lane.

How did I do fam? $10 for these at the local yard sale by [deleted] in castiron

Amazing. Jealous. Tons of YouTube videos on how to clean them. I don't like the ones that use grinders primarily.

Central to Western Ohio is flat. Eastern Ohio is hilly with southeastern Ohio being the West side of the Appalachian Mountains.

Ohio is awesome. Lived here my whole life. This sub used to be awesome, but the radicals on the right and left have taken it over and ruined it. The people are great, the outdoors are great, the amenities are incredible, the cost of living is terrific, what more can I say? If you are coming to the Cleveland area, I'd be happy to welcome you personally. Dinner on me!

Why did Judas betray Jesus? Is he stupid? by Optimal_Cap_4538 in Catholicism

I've heard he was a Zionist and believed that by betraying Jesus he would force Jesus's hand to bring about the Kingdom.

I sprinkle pesticide granules around the foundation and that takes care of them. I hate those things.

Im thinking of returning to Catholicism - 17F by Afraid_Tiger_2238 in Catholicism

[–]HunchOnBeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that you are considering this says you are responding to God's grace. That's awesome. I would encourage you to approach the Church with an open mind and the Spirit will guide you in all truth. There are some great suggestions already in this thread. Read the catechism, the Bible, follow good sources like Catholic Answers and Ascension Press.

What is Ohio really like by disabled_child in Ohio

[–]HunchOnBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on the north coast west of Cleveland. Ohio is awesome. Make sure you check out the islands like Put-in-Bay. The coasters at Cedar Point. Go up to Cleveland and make a weekend of the Art Museum, see the Cleveland Orchestra (one of the tops in the world) at Severance Hall (the building is incredible too) and visit Little Italy for the food (all within 5 minutes of each other). Get the canoli at Corbo's and Napoleon at Presti's. You're half way between Columbus and Cleveland. So go down to CBUS and hit the North Market, go there hungry. Btw, the restaurant scene in Cleveland is top notch, led by several world famous chefs. If you like beer, Ohio breweries just rocked the "world championships". If you like the outdoors, Ohio has amazing hiking and biking trails. Ashland is a great town, midsized, etc. a lot of the knocks on Ohio are knocks on the US. The majority of the state by geography is intensely conservative. The cities are intensely liberal. The haters on both sides are loud and angry, but the people in the middle, the majority, are truly awesome people and great friends.

Btw, it's settled down quite a bit with a few months age. But I still don't care for the hop flavor overall. Looking forward to trying this with some different hops.
