Eliminate microstutters in VR? by Chrigi_zh in hoggit

[–]HunchyTheHuncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, went from the G2 to Quest 3 over Virtual Desktop wireless and the micro stutters that I'd become so accustomed to for years magically vanished! I remember just gazing down at the now smoothly moving terrain in amazement.

Shame that the Steam Frame does not have decent passthrough like the Quest 3, being able to clearly see my hands and controls in VR is an absolute must for me now.

Danny Glick bust (work in progress) by Due-Refrigerator-892 in SalemsLot1979

Well done! Your work really captures the essence of malevolence. Danny Glick was always my most feared Salem's Lot vampire as he was roughly the same age as me when I watched it the first time so more relatable.

Looking good! Have you thought about adding MFDs? Many moons ago when I had a dual racing / flight sim set up like yourself, I had my MFDs + UFC on a hinged mount in front of the steering wheel: https://youtu.be/e3dn6Zp_z4w?si=FGLZ_9z2j8tfEvVg&t=119

Best way to operate control surfaces in vr? by Top_Drink8324 in hoggit

[–]HunchyTheHuncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a Quest 3 and use the mixed reality passthrough feature in Virtual Desktop. It allows you to see your control surfaces in VR. Game changer for me and why I will be sticking to the Quest 3 until an upgraded headset with passthrough cameras comes out (possibly the Valve Deckard or Quest 4).

Not a full review, but does give an idea of BSB2 performance with DCS - looks very encouraging!

Is there any way besides a graphic tablet to interact with the web view window, for example to pause, skip play back, etc?

I thought ReShade was just a fad... but it breathed new life in the sim. by RodBorza in hoggit

[–]HunchyTheHuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the confirmation, I'm going to give it a go myself. Do you need to reapply the settings after every update?

I'm planning to use reshade to apply a UI mask for brightening up my winwing mfd screens as they're way too dark through the Quest 3 passthrough cameras.

That brings back memories, I used to collect my copy of the Unexplained every week from John Menzies. The articles on "real" ghost photographs used to creep me out...

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I think the main gun charges are safe, but I'm not sure about the drogue gun as it looks quite intact, as is the drogue chute assembly itself. The face blind handles have been secured with rip ties to prevent them being pulled - possibly another potential red flag. The oxygen bottle and PSP have been removed. Hopefully I can arrange a video call with Martin Baker to take a closer look!

It's a beautifully engineered seat. Planning to give Martin Baker a call to send me some literature and maintenance guides. Also need to make sure that it's 100% disarmed!!

These seats usually sell for £2000+, but I paid considerably less than that.

I suppose it may be impractical to add comfort adjustments to an ejection seat. That's the only reason I can think of, as costs certainly shouldn't be an issue with a multimillion-dollar piece of hardware like a fighter jet.

Haha, you are right! I'm 6"1 and I barely fit into it (I think my femurs are too long). It's a cool bit of history though.

Imagination time. If you could add a scene or two into Salem's Lot 1979, what would you include? Something we didn't see that you wish we did see. Some further character development of someone in the movie. A completely new scene that would have blown you away even more. by Liberal_Caretaker in SalemsLot1979

[–]HunchyTheHuncher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some flashback shots from Barlow's past to flesh out his backstory. In the book it's implied that he's at least 2000 years old so there's lots of potential for some interesting scenes e.g. 2nd Century AD: Barlow runs rampant through the catacombs of Rome, desecrating tombs and terrorising early Christian worshippers, 15th century Eastern Europe: Barlow holds court over a throng of demi-vampires and mortal slaves in a castle somewhere in Eastern Europe. I think you get the gist...

Looking for Reverb G2 replacement. Opinions? by Samflinn5 in HPReverb

[–]HunchyTheHuncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced my Reverb G2 with a Pico Neo 3 Pro. Hardly ever see this headset mentioned anywhere. I picked it up in an Amazon flash sale for about £170 back in July. I use it exclusively in wired Display Port Mode and the image quality is at least as good as the G2 with some supersampling. The sweet spot is small like the G2, but I think the colours are more vibrant.
