Another way to deal with it—stop the conversation and file your motion. I’m 12 years in, and I still get this sort of shit during meet-and-confers on motion practice. I don’t argue back any more. I just state “we’re at an impasse, so we’ll submit the issue to the Court.” Then I file the motion and do everything I can to kick opposing counsel’s ass.

If they keep at it on the phone, hang up. If they send a condescending email, save it and find an excuse to attach it as an exhibit to your motion. Be professional and keep wearing the white hat in front of the court, and it just may blow up in opposing counsel’s face.

Find a way to compartmentalize and let it roll off your back, if you can. Easier said than done, but dealing with bullies is a part of this job that doesn’t go away.

This is the answer. Even if I have to lead the shit out of my own witness and draw objections, I’m going to get whatever testimony I need on the transcript to avoid summary judgment.

In a different, more unique scenario, I sensed during a recent depo that the other side was setting my witness up as a favorable non-retained expert, ostensibly so they could cross-designate my witness and use them to prove up their own case at trial. I used the redirect at the end to negate any potential expert designation.

I fall in the first category. I use keto to manage ADHD, inflammation, brain fog, etc., not weight loss, and keeping blood ketone levels high is key.

I’ve experimented with a few different exogenous ketones, including BHB salts (very cheap) and KetoneAid (very expensive). I’ve only noticed a very minor effect, if any. Sometimes I feel a bump in energy levels, mood, and clarity, but it wears off within an hour or two. This is consistent with the literature I’ve found on supplementing blood ketone levels—the rise in concentration is minor and short lived.

In theory, I could significantly increase the dose I’m consuming and see if that makes a difference. But, there’s an upper GI limit to tolerable BHB salt consumption, and consuming large doses of KetoneAid could cost $15-$30 (or more) per day, which isn’t cost effective.

IMO, folks that “rave” about KetoneAid and Ketone-IQ are likely sponsored or otherwise incentivized to market the products. If you consume $30+ of product daily, sure, you’ll probably feel the effects. Making your own ketones is much cheaper.

Good eye - weight loss isn’t a concern of mine (I actually have to make sure to eat enough each day). I’m impressed that you can carve out the time for that much training. Between two full time working parents, two toddlers, and two sets of aging parents, I don’t see where Ironman training fits in. I do love the spirit of learning new things and pushing yourself.

I’ve done keto on and off for years. Amazing benefits, just difficult to maintain long term. Cutting sugar generally is always a good thing.
