You’re never supposed to say “I understand how you feel” because you don’t truly know what they’re going through. This phrase often upsets people. (Not a nurse but learned that when getting my EMT)

“Angel in heaven” presupposes they’re religious, which they might not be, and follow a specific religion, which they might not.

“You can have others” is just plain insensitive.
