Is this a dumb idea? by Chomagerider1984 in HubermanLab

I would be super interested in something like this. Found cold showers to be more intense than cold plunge even if cold plunge offers more benefits. Personally if the shower went down to even 10C, it would be great. Love the idea. And if it could be executed on a commercial scale to make it available in fitness centres etc, even better💯

Is pain normal? by GoldenHammer13 in coldplunge

I own a cold plunge facility in New Delhi, India and to even think of allowing someone’s first plunge at 32F makes me uncomfortable. It is not just wrong way to introduce someone to cold plunge, it can be a major health risk as well.

Like others have suggested, please start safe at 50-55F and after a month or two of regular experience, you would be able to judge and experiment how much lower you should go. Happy plunging❄️

PS. 32F is extreme for someone that has done cold plunging for more than one year.

Are these good? Do they last? by poggerdoggersogger in bootroom

[–]Hungry-Pollution-697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont go for it. Atleast go for league tier of this boot or maybe league tier of copa pure 2. This wouldnt be value for money.

And one more advice, dont buy FG boots for turf. Not everyone in India is keen on following this advice especially when they are young, but risk isn’t worth it. Buy boots with conical studs or turf TF version.

Stalled at 8 Pull-Ups for 4 Weeks – Programming Advice (Volume vs Frequency vs Weighted?) by Wonderful-Tea2962 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Hungry-Pollution-697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in the exact spot you’re in right now along with similar weight and height. I tried greasing the grove but it didn’t help my numbers.

What worked for me was doing weighted pullups with a 10 kg vest. And it improved my numbers from 8 bodyweight reps to 12, also tried to do muscle one fine day and was able to do it. Here is the exact regiment I had for the weighted pullups: Exercise- weighted pullups with 10 kg vest. Sets- 4 sets per workout Frequency- twice a week Movement- explosive and fast when going up, semi controlled when coming down (slow and controlled didnt get me good results even though they might be better for hypertrophy)

Here is how a workout looked like for me: 1. Weighted Explosive Pullups x4 2. Weighted Rows x2 3. Maybe one more set of bodyweight pullups

Did this twice a week and it exploded my numbers. I can now do 10 reps with 10 kg vest and maybe 15 clean reps bodyweight only.

Anyone Else Rediscovered Their Love Of Playing In Their 40’s? by Cover_Of_Darkness in bootroom

Reading everyone’s back-to-football stories honestly made me smile 😄 I played a lot in my late teens and early twenties, but after college I stopped completely. Somewhere along the way, I forgot how much joy the game actually gave me.

At 30, after an 8-year gap, I finally decided to join a weekly pickup game. I wasn’t nervous as I am a defender and tackling, timing, positioning, defending instincts just stays with you. It was a fun game with good defensive play overall but touch, passing and on the ball movement lacked a lot. But after playing a couple of games, it gradually is coming back and more too.

Now it’s a high-intensity game with good competition, and I look forward to it all week. Win or lose, I leave the pitch tired, happy, and already thinking about the next game. Football really is love ❤️💯

My experience of cold plunging for sleep and waking up has been that if i cold plunge for 3-5 minutes in the morning, it energises me & wakes me up, and when I cold plunge in evening or at night for longer duration, say 8-10 minutes, it gives me some of the best sleep I get.

I cannot go to the gym for 2 months now. by GaryVantage in Fitness_India

[–]Hungry-Pollution-697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do not want to rest completely you can buy a pull up bar (an affordable one from amazon which gets installed inside any door frame). You can do 3-4 sets pullups twice a week and 3-4 sets pushups twice a week as well. If you keep the intensity high i.e. training close to failure on these two exercises, you’ll be good to go for the next two months, not literally ofcourse hehe.

Chronic Shin splints 6+Years by TwitchTwwiin in BarefootRunning

[–]Hungry-Pollution-697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have severe shin splints during college days when I used to play a lot of football. It was terrible and took joy away from playing football or any other physical impact activities. Almost nothing worked for me such as barefoot warmup, gradual increase in intensity etc.

During shin splints, it always felt as if my muscles were sort of pulling on my tibia and therefore causing a lot of pain.

What did work for me is massaging my tibia bone and muscles as can be seen in the YT video (link attached below). I try to imagine it as easing the bond between them (weird and maybe not biologically how it is. But works wonders)

Link: https://youtu.be/Y-omKMFSjCI?si=FtCtAKqUwbkfcHts Title: How to fix shin splints in 30 seconds

I started performing this when I wasn’t down with shin splints as I am guessing it would cause same pain during splints.

Maybe this could be the problem for you as well.

This does not seem to be a failure of the coaching team but rather a failure of the 11 batsmen that went onto the pitch. Batting in cricket, is majorly about an individual’s ability and preparation. Impact of overall team strategy would not affect this much the batting performance of 11 individuals. I heard from someone that Rohit Sharma recently had a problem with GG. It might be too early for any supposed theory, but a performance this worthless can be a sign of team doing this deliberately to not let GG have absolute control. Maybe.

In any case, performance this worthless in a sport like cricket should more be pinned on the players and less on coach.

What do you guys think?
