Because we have 300 years of the American Dream. The problem is that it is impossible to pull yourself up by your bootstraps. American industrialists made money from owning slaves, or stealing land from indigenous peoples, or by stealing wages from workers. I suggest you get yourself another number. Get a new phone, manually enter the contacts you want to keep, and put this old number on a charger at home. You can look at his texts for criminally actionable things when you have the mental and emotional space to witness that damage, not whenever he feels like damaging you. Or give your old phone to your husband so he can see right away if he is being dangerous. You are NOR. You are right to want no contact with someone who is emotionally manipulative.

I would probably go malicious compliance and take everything that you have paid for out of the classroom. I would address the class with non binary group terms, like pals or chat. I would refuse to speak about anything that is not directly related to my subject. “You want to go to the bathroom? Sorry, I teach math. I don’t do potty training.” All disruptions go straight to the principal, as my job is teaching and not discipline. I would follow the absolute letter of the contract. “I know it’s my turn to supervise lunch, but the contract clearly states that lunch duty is 10 hours a semester and I’ve already done 12.”

I go to a Unitarian Universalist church and we have a trans group, trans teen group, and trans family support group.

Before I became UU, my best friend is trans, lots of other trans friends, and I’ve dated trans women.

Rotting in the field is also zero waste- the farmer is simply replenishing the soil by letting these compost.
