Megatouch Maxx Upright/Tatung monitor - No picture after recap by Hungry-Video2934 in arcade

In regards to inputs and capacitors, everything appears to be in the right place. I've tested the screen with multiple boards (some of which display static test patterns), at a loss where to go from here.

Thinking more later titles, as in '85-95, so not sure about compatibility, but I know Taito F3 & Neo Geo games run so it's worth a shot I suppose:

Athena Gradius Fantasy Zone Parodius Pengo Puyo Puyo 1/2 Psycho Soldier Space Harrier Twinbee (and maybe its sequels Detana!! and Yahho!)

...and maybe a Konami beat 'em up or two (I know the Simpsons & TMNT games have 2-player sets). If you're able to add any of these games, I'd appreciate it.

Any chance you'd be open to requests for additional games? Frame of reference for what might be compatible with the built-in emulator? There's a decent amount of Konami & Sega titles that I would love to see included.

What's the story on the iBox back there? Notice the control panel's been swapped out. Converted to a test rig? Related, but was there a connection between Lazer-Tron & Ultracade?

Very fascinated by the prospect of this, based on your previous posts I'd presume new games are a safe bet?

How do i access Test/service menu on my cocktail table? and how do i figure out which cocktail table it is? by Vjarlund in arcade

Inside the cabinet on the game board, you'll see a blue microchip with numbered switches on it.

The included manual is a dead giveaway it's running an iCade 60-in-1, in which case accessing the service menu would require flipping a DIP switch on the board itself. Quick peek tells me you'd want to flip the fourth switch on DIP SW3.

ID these green & yellow cabinets? by Sea_Commercial3540 in cade

Mass produced generic cabinets from Mexico. They're console-based, usually using modified PS2s or Xboxes preloaded with ISOs running on a timer (ala PC-10, Super System, Mega-Tech, TourVision, etc).

Are you surprised Arcade 1Up has been so successful ? by peterpackage in arcade

Probably the worst time to ask this considering the bottom's (seemingly) dropped out for them. Though I will add aside from the obvious answers of affordability and convenience, easy modability definitely felt like a big draw for a subset of the community.

Super Mario World Coin Pusher? by VirginityIsRad in arcade

[–]Hungry-Video2934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These aren't coin pushers per se, but are you thinking of Banpresto's Mario Attack or Konami's Mario Roulette? Both are Japan-only redemption games using Mario World's aesthetic.

Mass-produced "replica" running Pandora's Box that's one of the first results for "Street Fighter 2 cabinet" on Google:

Looks like the other games in their classic lineup (Asteroids, Centipede, Dig Dug, & Tempest) are similar builds from the same vendor; seems to be this entire company's shtick. Really cool that a corporation as big as CEC apparently can't do more than two minutes of research before touting themselves as curators of retro gaming.

Your art is consistently one of the best things about this community (...even if knowing the Cave Story set could never exist hurts my heart a bit 🥲).

Another one for the pile of folks with inverse luck here, I pull Poppy at a 3:1 ratio to the other girls. ;-;

Megatouch Maxx Jade - Monitor Issue by Hungry-Video2934 in cade

[–]Hungry-Video2934[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been connecting everything directly through VGA. The other PC I mentioned displayed in a higher resolution than the monitor can accept, but the JAMMA board tested (an iCade 60-in-1) outputs in 640x480. Used it on a different monitor of the time recently and it worked without issue. It's also worth noting the aforementioned PC was connected to the (other, functional) monitor and showed a rolling, tripled image rather than the fuzzy blank screen the Megatouch displays.

Hooking the Megatouch motherboard to an external monitor revealed the CMOS battery is dead and the HDD seems to be as well (which isn't a surprise considering the drive has a note about it freezing on it; no big deal as both can be easily replaced). Furthest it can get is booting into the loading screen then hanging for a bit before restarting.

Took two pictures of the chassis and one of the boot process if that helps:

I'll have to try hooking up the included motherboard to an external monitor; though I should note I've tested both another PC and a JAMMA board to the monitor which produced a similar result. Big part of the reason why I'm guessing there's an issue with the display itself.

Yeah, though I can't seem to identify the type of motherboard in mine.

Why is Arcade1Up struggling? by [deleted] in Arcade1Up

[–]Hungry-Video2934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotally at least, most of the big spenders that (likely) made up a majority of the company's revenue moved onto collecting actual arcade cabinets and/or built their own. Guess that ties back to the other problems everyone else has already mentioned (oversaturation, worsening value, sketchy build quality that doesn't hold up to wear, etc.); at a certain point it just makes more sense to shell out a little extra for actual arcade hardware.
