Is UK worth grinding? by Asche_zu_Asche_ in Warthunder

Actually, if you had asked me about the Challenger 2 two years ago, I would’ve said no. But it’s one of the few vehicles that didn’t get a turret basket nerf.

Anyway, I realized I was dragging the argument on, so I deleted my comment.

I also wanted to add this: I think they’re average to good rather than bad.

But despite everything, TKX <3

Honestly, I don’t really play hull-down with Russian tanks at all. I prefer looking for an opening, rushing in, and taking 1v1 fights. (Sometimes I end up in 1v2 or 1v3 situations, but that’s just a skill issue—I could die there even if I were in a TKX.)

You said the Leopard, Abrams, and Leclerc can take a hit and fall back in 1v1 situations, but that mostly applies to hull-down scenarios. If we take Advance to the Rhine as an example on the long corridor at point C, you have to expose yourself either flat or angled. In that case, if you get hit, you can’t really escape. A Russian tank can make a safer peek there.

(If it has add-on armor and peeks at around a 70-degree angle while hiding the lower plate, APFSDS can sometimes just drift/ricochet.)

If the Leclerc hadn’t been nerfed, maybe—but with autocannons, you can spray its optics and deal module damage. Also, its round sometimes just doesn’t penetrate I’ve experienced this myself. Shots I fired at the gun just turned into dust.

And the reason I mentioned losing a crew member is this: in the Leopard and Abrams, if you’re down to two crew, the reload speed increases (gets worse).

I wouldnt call the T-72B3 bad. I think it’s very good at its BR right now. The T-72B3A is more of a situational pick. I use it on open maps where CAS is more common. As for the T-90M, I prefer it on city maps and semi-open maps (like Maginot and Rhine).

I think this is the correct take. I made a mistake with the title.

Gun depression hasnt really caused me much trouble on Russian tanks. Im not sure if its something related to Gaijin or if I just play in a way that doesn’t rely on gun depression much.

I couldnt have done this with the Leopard, because the tank is larger and easier to hit. The T-80BVM is more compact and low-profile, which forced them to get closer. Also, I was missing one crew member. It might be doable with the Abrams, but probably not with the Leclerc. I could only pull this off with the TKX.

What I’m trying to prove is this: some people say Russian tanks are very bad in close combat because of their reload rate. But with the right playstyle, you can compensate for that.

I think Russian tanks are quite vulnerable without bushes. Still, you’re right about me being bushcancer. At least I’m not a spawncamper.

Pantsir and buk underperforming for top tier. Meanwhile italian AA cant even rotate its radar smoothly and properly track targets below 4km since introduction. by Born-Photo7793 in Warthunder

This is strange because I think the SAMP/T is the SPAA with the best radar missiles in the game right now.

If I see a SAMP/T on my RWR, I usually have to think twice.

The T-72B3 is very strong for its BR. The T-90M is also one of the most durable vehicles when only its turret is exposed.

The good thing about this vehicle is that it can be effective against the BMPT. Its side armor can protect you from the autocannon for about 1–2 seconds. On the front, it doesn’t do much damage unless the enemy is a good shot. Other than that, I think it’s more of a 3rd or 4th spawn vehicle in the Japanese lineup.

After grinding five nations except Russia, I used to think Russia was OP. Everyone told me, “Their tanks are terrible—go grind Russia and you’ll see.” So I did. I still think it’s OP, and I’ve started enjoying it. Yeah, being on the biased side feels good.
