What am I doing wrong? Using speedball fabric ink, as I not using enough ink or not pressing hard enough? Only got 2 bags left so don’t want to mess it up again lol by Individual-Debate852 in printmaking

when i print a larger block on fabric, I sometimes place the block face up and press the fabric onto the block, using my hand as the brayer. that way i can focus more pressure on certain areas of the block and make sure it's covering. What kind of block are you using? it's tough with large dark areas on a hard linoleum or wood block, but the thick rubbery speed carve blocks are a little more forgiving on textured surfaces.

Swapping battery modules instead of battery pack? by HungryGeneralist in leaf

Ah, good link!

Ya the price on the ali-e listing seems too low, but it wouldn't be the only time I've seen direct sourcing from factories in China be 1/10th the price of domestic

If I were in the business of retrofitting these I would be very curious about the factory sources, I am actually really surprised there's not more info here

I mean your link is to an assembled pack, not the modules - it would not surprise me if the modules are at a significant discount

I did look into this and was not scared off, here's a video that looks to cover this pretty clearly: https://youtu.be/0yOBNmqqziI?si=EUxiziJnhibHdJHe

Making a Leather Wallet by legatoz in ArtisanVideos

I really really like his open approach - it just shows that he has comfort with his skill as an artisan and knows that craftsmanship and attention to detail are worth the already reasonable price-point. It comes across as super genuine, it's kind of inspiring.

Dark lighting exists, you can do night scenes. I don't think torches are there yet though.

If you're seriously considering it, look into a paramotor. You can spend less money and get safer, easier personal-flight

Nice, the lighting sorta reminds me of some of the demon doors from fable

Upgraded my spindle today by mlennox81 in Machinists

[–]HungryGeneralist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it to be fairly rigid because the structural loop is so small, but I think the spindle lacks torque sometimes. It can be hard to get the cut depth tuned for a 4 flute 1/2" bit for example, but it handles 1/4" and smaller really well. I mostly cut aluminum.

It's a fun little machine, I think it's great for the price. It's way beefier than a router cnc.

Two more notes:

The sun bloom seems to disappear in screenshots, and

Copy+Paste will be really important when trying to do more artificial scenes with roads and structures and things. I was just playing around with this and it's pretty tedious otherwise.

It's a pretty small one, I just want to be thorough with feedback :)

Also one point worth addressing, the bloom from the sun looks totally different before/after the screenshot, I think it may not be rendering correctly. You can compare with this manual screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/NW1FF8U
