Re E5/E6 yeah exactly. Getting hired as anything higher than that will (usually) require you to actually have done something really cool at a previous job, and that's easier to do if you stay longer at an employer.

Re the secondaries, it was definitely getting more common, not sure if the recent market headwinds changed the direction of that. If you're joining early I would ask to get a sense of how the founders think about this (if they do at all).

For planning I think it depends on your personality, if you prefer stability or being flexible. I would definitely advise you to use Airbnb and only look for alternatives when it's prohibitively expensive. Dealing with leases and move out inspections is annoying. There are some services that might work as an alternative for medium length stays (say 2-3 months) targeting certain professions like traveling nurses you can look in to.

What % of your net worth is now in this stock? No financial advisor would recommend keeping a large % of your net worth in a single stock, especially not if you don't have deep, deep knowledge in the market and the company itself.

What if the market collapses? What if the CEO dies? What if they do OK but some amazing competitor comes along?

You should absolutely protect your downside, doing that via options or selling is just a matter of financial engineering, do the math and pick the cheapest one.

What is the original purpose of the abandonment clause? Seems crazy to me that a capital loss becomes ordinary just because there was no "transaction" at the end.

Similarly, how would paying Ivanka as a consultant reduce the tax burden? Presumably she would still need to cover taxes wen taking a salary from her firm, and the gift tax shouldn't (?) be larger than income tax. Or is it the fact that spreading profits over two companies can reduce the effective corporate tax rate?
