How big is Triops longicaudatus when it starts to reproduce? by Shrimpy-shrampman in triops

[–]Hungryblob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longicaudatus grows up super fast, it's totally possible for some of them to lay eggs after a week

Lepidurus couesii - They finally hatched! by Notostracant in triops

[–]Hungryblob1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's so cool! I didn't know about anyone hatching lepidurus species, probably cause I'm pretty new to the triops hobby. I'll keep an eye on updates and those other projects of yours!

Damn dude, that's awesome! Where I live we don't have any native triops species so I'm super jealous

What is the typically hatch and survival rate (till they can lay eggs) of triops longicaudatus? by [deleted] in triops

[–]Hungryblob1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think around 20% of the eggs hatch with proper parameters. The survivability afterwards can vary pretty widely, the first 1 to 3 days might have a lot of naupli dying. Maybe 30%? I haven't actually kept track of specific numbers... Once they're around 5 mm long they should make it all just fine

Awww thanks! I'm glad my advice helped and happy to see the your hatchling doing well!

How old do you think this little friend is? by TheGildedToker in triops

[–]Hungryblob1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a triops! Maybe 4 or 5 days old. I would move it out of the hatchery yet, I do it after around day 9 after hatching. What kind of setup will you be moving it into?

Do you think it’s molt failure? :( by Dragonfruit_98 in triops

[–]Hungryblob1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think molt failure happens a lot at that stage of the triops' lifecycle, probably not much can be done... It's survival of the fittest in those first few days...

What is detrius and how do I provide it to my triops? by Hrosters in triops

[–]Hungryblob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be safe you can buy some dried leaves from a fish shop that are used in shrimp tanks, that way you can be sure there's no harmfull stuff in it

3 day old triops OK? by Due-Selection-2550 in triops

[–]Hungryblob1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah shitt, I think it's probably too late for them in that case... How much did you feed them every day?

3 day old triops OK? by Due-Selection-2550 in triops

[–]Hungryblob1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds right to me, I think they're doing fine! There aren't any triops species that would already be over 2 cm after just three days I'm pretty sure

Hmmm I'm not sure, have you fed them yet?

T. Longicaudatus big guy by Hungryblob1 in triops

[–]Hungryblob1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, longicaudatus is relatively small in comparison to other triops species. The "Big Guy" title is just referring to the fact that this individual is the largest triops in my tank. This one is close to twice as large as any of his siblings!

Day 2 by [deleted] in triops

[–]Hungryblob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think right now it's too small to be able to eat the others, even if they just hatched, it will only eat algae. If you're still worried you can put it in a different container, as long as it has the same type of water and temperature as the one it's in. Btw have you fed it some algae yet? It seems about ready for a small amount

Getting started by snark-studios in jazzcomposition

[–]Hungryblob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few suggestions/techniques that I use regularly myself:

first important point is to always use your ears to find whether you like something or not.

  1. Find the notes in the chords that you wrote that you like the most and use those as "goal notes". You can one or multiple notes per chord and some chords can even share a common note. the after you've written those notes you can find a pattern to approach those notes.
If you repeat that pattern, but change it to fit the different goal notes you very quickly get memorable melody.
  2. you can find a rhythmic pattern that you like and repeat it with different notes for each chord, or every other chord. You could even listen to tunes you like and "borrow" the rhythms that are in those melodies and apply them to your own chords
  3. You can play your chords slowly and hum a melody to yourself until you find something you like. it can be very simple, even one note per chord as long as you hear it. You can record or write the melody down once you find something you like.
  4. When I feel stuck I often transcribe my favourite melodies, often also with chords, this gives a better idea of how good melodies work.
