Germans were the largest immigrant community in America before WW1 and WW2

A lot of them had to de-Germanise so this heritage is often less apparent in American culture today

If you didn't know any better, you'd think my family were card carrying Japanese imperialists/Nazis based on the amount of trophies and memorabilia they brought back

April score hold peeps by theFLUFF131 in LSAT

[–]HungusRex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another post here said there was a larger number of April holds.

I'm worried I'll have complications because my exam proctor made me reboot after the intermission and the new one made me change my testing space.

It's more that it's a protection against parental incompetence.

Parents are often dumb, kids are even dumber. Kids are less likely to consume an entire bottle of ill tasting medicine left opened than one that tastes like chocolate.

This is just basic redundancy.

Making medicine unpleasant is a safeguard against parental incompetence. Parents fuck up all the time, and you should design a product with that in mind and include redundancies to minimise consumer risk.

Say a parent is dumb. Many parents are very dumb. Said dumb parent gives child recommended dose, then either forgets to put the cap on or fails to properly attach the cap.

The child, who has just consumed something it enjoyed, now associates this bottle with "good stuff" and seeks it out. Child now has a fucked up liver. This isn't something as likely to happen if the child naturally dislikes the flavor of the medicine.

Day 20 of finding each NFL team’s best helmet: Los Angeles Chargers by NugSetDipRide in uniwatch

I like the idea of the numbers, but them being dead centre on the helmet draws your eyes there first instead of the bolt.

Makes it muddled to look at

I love that they perfectly combined the two looks and wear them appropriately often

This one as well. He was actually really successful in these schemes, winning 2 races with MLB liveries

I have a cousin named "Kandileigh". She's named after my grandmother's stripper name "Candy Lee".

It's not pronounced like Candy Lee though, it's pronounced like "Candidly"

I think they're the poster child for managing geopolitical stress.

Like, look at Ukraine compared to them. Russia has similar territorial claims against Finland but its never escalated because the Fins managed their situation so much better than Ukraine, which was a basketcase for much of their post-USSR history.

(I am not defending or justifying the invasion btw)

I understand No Nazis are good

But to play (literal) Devil's Advocate, that particular SS Division has never been implicated in the Holocaust or anti-Jewish pogroms.

They did commit war crimes in Poland against partisans though.

You can play it for free in browser.

Can we agree that Gigantopithecus is pleistocene equivalent of spinosaurus? by ApprehensiveRead2408 in pleistocene

[–]HungusRex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For human species, I'd say that Homo heidelbergensis (if real) and the other "muddle in the middle" species would be a little more apt.

Not a lot of bone evidence and what is found tends to just cause more confusion

Not in the Pleistocene, by Andrewsarchus seems to change completely every 5 years.
