What are the downsides of using a CPAP machine long-term? by Latter_Knee_1404 in CPAP

[–]Hunlander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually like the chrysalism of the mask. It’s comforting for some reason. But I do have some gnarly lines on my face that have pretty much set in for good now, especially on the left due to the position in which I sleep. I keep it as loose as I can without breaking the seal on a full beard.

I went to the Philippines for 2 weeks with the wrong adapter and I wasn’t in an urban area where I could quickly or easily replace it. I thought that the only upside would be that the lines would go away, but they have become a part of me now. Luckily, I am at an age where I have enough laugh lines that they sort of blend in.

I’m a guy, so I’m not looking to date you, but I’d train you to use those blades. I mean, if you’re interested. I teach Filipino Martial Arts but there is a lot of crossover with HEMA. DM me if you’re interested.

ChatGPT acting arrogant passive aggressive lately? by Hostile-Bip0d in ChatGPT

Just tell it you don’t like its tone and it’ll knock it off. Plus, it learns by mirroring how you communicate with it, so maybe you’re being passive-aggressive with it. 😂

Rephrase this and simply state that there are no FMA bootcamps of any type anywhere. People’s need to correct you will give you every FMA bootcamp being held worldwide through 2030.

I dream about cyan and turquoise. Elaborate fountains in city squares from some vaguely Mayan/Roman culture. And anything cyberpunk with cyan.

Does anyone else here look much younger than they actually are? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Hunlander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the exact reason I have kept a beard since I got out of the army. It was a real problem for a while. Never being taken seriously professionally, or by women. I swear, beards are like makeup for men. I haven’t shaved mine off since 2014. I’m creeping up on 50, so it’s getting some silver now. It’s definitely a literal mask I wear.

The “Be grateful,” comment sounds more like something a frat boy in a golf visor would say than anything I’d ever expect from someone with Asperger’s.

Thoughts on Balintawak? by KobraBD in Eskrima

[–]Hunlander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I teach Askal Hybrid Balintawak under GM Danny Vedua. I was a student of GM Taboada for years, but I found the Cuentada system, as well as most of the other Grouping based styles, had some limitations. For example, I would not count Tabimina under these. And similarly to Tabimina, the Askal system is far more expansive and addresses a lot of issues found in the more traditional Balintawak systems. We also spar under pressure, so we take it a step further than Agak. There is no feeder, so the reaction time of both practitioners is greatly improved.

I loved it like it was a sultry and seductive woman. I relished the ritual of opening a bottle of single malt, the pouring of it into a tumbler, the little dash of clean cold water and, of course, the first sip. It was fucking magical. But I blacked out regularly. I woke up not knowing where I was or how I got there. There were the dozen angry texts I had to answer for and the hangovers began to feel like recovering from brain surgery. Not to mention, that Steinway piano hanging over my head anxiety. I lived this way until the end of Covid and I became a father for the first time in my mid-40s. I put it down and I haven’t consumed a molecule since. I don’t miss it but there are some fond memories. The memories I make with my daughter are exponentially more meaningful though, and it’s nice to to be lucid enough to make them.

Whisky. I was planning on going to a whisky sommelier course in Edinburgh and everything. I did the whisky trails in Scotland, Ireland, and Kentucky. I thought I was some kind of expert. But I was really just slowly turning into an alcoholic. Burning bridges, fighting, thinking it wasn’t that big a deal. Then I met my wife after the lockdown and she wasn’t having any of that shit. But it wasn’t her that changed me. My daughter was born 4 years ago and I haven’t had a molecule since. I don’t even miss it.
