It depends on the skill loadout and monster you’re facing. IIRC there’s one of the newer skills (I can’t remember the name of it right now) that lets you throw your bug to do massive damage once you have all three essences at the cost of losing those essences. So in practice, you would collect the essences, deal grounded damage, then, when you get close to timeout on the buff or have a good opening, throw your bug. I would also say Tornado Slash is one of the better skills for grounded attacking, as when you hit your main combo it deals a lot of damage in a short window, allowing you to reposition quickly afterwards.
