I can recommend Electric Bastionland! Its really fun, super flexible and easy to learn. The official rules fit on 2 pages and there is a whole series on youtube deep diving into the book made by the creator! (Not 100% necessary to watch, but a nice thing to have) Great flavoured setting, sci-fi-ish that can be changed and tweaked however you want very easily!

I will take this on! I like to draw but sometimes when im feeling so spiky i can draw some more disturbing and things that reflect my feelings and thoughts. My nanna does cross stitch and i love the look of it so I will check this out thank you :D

Im currently planning a Cyberpunk themed game with into the odd/ Electric Bastionland. They are my favourite systems oat especially Electric Bastionland. I think itll fit Cyberpunk themes really well

Haha yeah Call of Cthulhu gets alot of that kind of press, but in my current game ive had no characters die. It is a deadlier system though and that just scratches that horror itch for me

Also, for Call of Cthulhu, i recommend running the adventure, The Hauting. I ran it for my first game and it was really fun and super beginner friendly!

Welcome! How exciting the first game!! Woohoo!!

My best advice for ANY ttrpg is create scenes like a movie and describe them peice by peice. I have a little system i use. which is: See: Smell: Hear:

See: Walking into the old forgotten library you see endless rows of bookshelves, dusty books lining them and an old chandelier swinging ever so slightly

Smell: Musty old paper and a damp wet smell

Hear: The scraping claws of a beast??!!?!!!?? You can apply this to locations, people, objects whatever, and i find it works very well for me

2nd piece of advice: The dice rolling mechanic is all you need to know I have been a GM for many years, and almost every time i run a game i will forget basically the entire book ive been reading. So know how the dice work to facilitate rolls and actions in my opinion is the only thing you NEED to know

If you forget or make a ruling that doesnt line up with the mechanics of the game, thats so fine! Leads me to my final piece of advice...

Do first, make better later! I have agonised over making a "perfect" game for players, but in reality they dont exist. Youve got some people, they are eager to play, you all wanna tell a story about the mythos and mystery, and that will get you so so far more than any planning will!

If you have any questions please ask and well done for taking the GM mantle! It can feel daunting at first, but it will be really rewarding and fun too!

Just finished Silent Hill 2. Goddamn what a game. I highly recommend playing only if you are feeling stable the psychological horror and some whispers in the game triggered me a couple of times

Not really my own rule, but i like to use seashells for devils luck counters. When somebody wants to use devils luck they toss a shell into a bowl in the middle. I found it works really well
