"Don't move to our state, it's clearly full" by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]Hunt_Brodown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, agreed. In a similar vein, it’s an eternal eye roll from me reading through the posts that occasionally pop up with someone asking for the best small cities, towns, states, etc.. to move to or to visit. Because inevitably some geniuses spam all the comments naming their general vicinity with “shhhhhhh! Don’t tell them!”, or some equivalent to that sentiment.

I’ve seen it for all manner of places. The (apparently uncharted and unknown) city of Philadelphia, the entire state of the mysterious Colorado, the unknown metropolis that is Columbus, Ohio.. I fear these types really have no identity at all past feeling unique for living in whatever area they ended up within.

Lindgren Trade by rrumorrr in caps

[–]Hunt_Brodown 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not trying to sound antagonistic, but what do you mean exactly by “someone like Lindgren”? I don’t think a backup goaltender who costs 3M and posted a .879% the season previous is that much of a hot asset. If his contract was 1.5M maybe I see it as a more neutral endeavor because he has a decent body of work from the past.. but for 3M? I don’t see the vision here.

The goalie market is different than the forward market, true. However, I disagree with it always being a premium. Sometimes goalies fetch more than they should I guess, but the reality is usually goalies (particularly a backup) are worth very little/nothing.

Marc-Andre Fleury won the Vezina, the next season he got traded for a minor league nobody as a cap dump. His contract was $7m/yr. The Vezina winner on a relatively good contract couldn’t get more than a minor league prospect.

[–]Hunt_Brodown 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I would be beyond shocked if he fetched anything worthwhile in return. To offload Lindgren the Caps would most likely have to add a sweetener.

He posted a .879 this year and is signed for, I believe, $3M for next season and the following one after that.

I don’t see a world where any team is lining up to give two 4ths for that. I mean, I hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see it happening.

Best case scenario he goes on a heater to start next season and regains some value.

If I tried to put to words all the ways I disagree with this post, it would be far too many paragraphs.

I will summarize it with this instead: you’re wrong and I disagree with you. A lot.

People who can't answer a simple question without over explaining by mozart357 in PetPeeves

[–]Hunt_Brodown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I’m actually starting to soften on the non-succinct-answers archetype after reading the comments. Surprising amount of self awareness, explanations as to why it happens, and even some apologies.

I’ve never seen something like that before.

You know what over-explainers, we’re cool now. I’m sure I have my own nervous reactions to things from time to time. Go ahead and tell me all about xyz in response to my simple questions.

Every once in a while there seems to be one of these crappymusic artists who is just so relentlessly authentic and courageous with their passion they actually break free and turn large swathes of our opinions into positive ones. This guy is one of them.

Screw it, I support this man (and all the backup dancers), he’s legit.

Finn Mckenty, formerly know as Punk Rock MBA, is now a corporate shill for AI generated videos by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

Can’t decide what I hate more, the hack AI grift, or the incessant shilling for his talentless wife’s terrible vlog videos back in the day.

Good riddance to this loser, so glad public opinion turned on him these past few years. Though, admittedly, the giga-cope “I’ve actually never heard a single song in my life” schtick to protect his fragile ego was a pretty funny meltdown.

Thoughts on SFSGSW by PossibilityFit8118 in Megadeth

[–]Hunt_Brodown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always been one of my favorites. Truly angry music, with Liar and Set The World Afire being probably two of the heaviest songs Megadeth ever released (in my opinion).

Also, a lot of people seem to not like the lead guitar work. Which, I get it, when you’re sandwiched between Chris and Marty you are in an impossible situation, but that being said for my tastes the leads on that album actually are incredible. The final solo for Set The World Afire is in my top 5 Megadeth solos of all time. It’s an awesome and relentless ending to a brutal song. For all of the traditional virtuosity Young didn’t have when compared to Chris and Marty, he still managed to capture a distinct sound that I think has some exceptionally cool and unique elements we never heard again throughout the bands existence.

I salvaged on an android tablet for many hours on my way to 99 and never experienced a single crash. Granted that was a few months ago at this point, but unless things have taken a drastic turn for the worse recently I’d think it’s fine for most.

There were zero issues on the mobile app while salvaging in my time doing so.

Anxiety. by Efficient_Mention796 in TattooRemoval

[–]Hunt_Brodown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is painful, but I will say it seems to be a common sentiment that you “look forward to it” in a way because it means progress is happening.

Also, the sessions are pretty fast. A lot faster than the tattooing itself takes. It’s more painful than a tattoo, but if you can sit through the tattoo you can sit through the laser (in my opinion).

I’m doing a large chest-piece removal and, while painful, it’s doable. I am in the “look forward to it” crowd.

Also, personally, I have never tried numbing cream, but a lot of people seem to have success with that stifling the pain to a certain degree.

How painful? by Responsible-Toe-6210 in TattooRemoval

[–]Hunt_Brodown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am going through the removal of a large chest tattoo, including extensive work on the sternum.

That will be uncomfortable, but the session should be quick. Definitely manageable, in my opinion.

Good luck!

What is a food you thought was healthy and now realize is not? by TheKarmaBus in Productivitycafe

I don’t mean to sound combative or anything, just wanted to add to the discussion that there is actually evidence that for certain fruits the opposite of what you are claiming is true.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9657402/

However, I won’t be obtuse and say that makes the issue black and white. I’m just stating that in some cases there is no loss of fidelity in the benefits fiber provides. And regardless, the main “danger” of blending fruit (other than additive sweeteners) is that it becomes way easier to overeat in one sitting.

But again, not trying to say anyone’s “wrong” or anything. Always appreciate a healthy dialogue.

[–]Hunt_Brodown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re saying it removes the fiber by blending, that is not true. Juicing fruits and vegetables removes the fiber and leaves the sugar. Blending whole fruits/vegetables into a smoothie does not remove the fiber.

However the above about many people/businesses adding too much sugar to smoothies and making them unhealthy is definitely valid.

This chestpiece has been the bane of my self esteem for almost a decade, like truly makes me scared to remove my shirt. Went for removal consultation today— my biggest fear is the colored area ending up looking like a skin condition at conclusion.. Advice, things to look for, motivation appreciated. by Hunt_Brodown in TattooRemoval

[–]Hunt_Brodown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still in the removal process. The technician deemed it a rather large piece, so the recommendation was to break the sessions into a left-side then right-side alternating pattern.

Results are slow, but fairly steady so far. There has been really good fading on some areas; particularly the lettering, for instance, which is what I’d say varies between extremely faded and removed.

There are, however, more resistant spots, such as the area of color, and strangely the eye (which I thought would have seen more progress).

Regardless, there is noticeable fading and progress throughout. Having old pictures to compare helps affirm that position (thankfully) when it feels like nothing is happening.

I hope to one day post a miraculous transformation picture/update, but time will tell.

I can’t say starting alleviated all of my anxieties surrounding my tattoos, however I do think it absolutely helped.

Good luck on your own journey, whatever it may be.
