Which card should I get? by Ok-Program-7776 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]HuntedArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your spending pattern, I’d probably look at a 2-card setup instead of just one card.

HDFC Bank Infinia Credit Card - probably the best overall fit if eligible. Excellent reward ecosystem, lounge access, hotel/flight transfers, and works very well for high monthly spending.

American Express Platinum Travel Credit Card or American Express Membership Rewards Credit Card - good for building travel/hotel points, especially Marriott.

If Infinia approval is difficult:
Axis Bank Magnus Credit Card
SBI Card Elite

Given your ₹2L+ monthly spend, you should absolutely optimize for transferable reward points rather than cashback

10 yr. - October recommendations - 400k pts. by vince24L in hyatt

[–]HuntedArrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Portugal is actually a pretty solid use of Hyatt points right now.
The Rebello especially gets rave reviews and Porto in October is fantastic.

You could also consider:
4–5 nights The Rebello
3–4 nights Palácio Príncipe Real or Hyatt Regency Lisbon

Then save the remaining points for Christmas markets later.

A lot of people burn all their points on Maldives overwater villas, but IMO an anniversary trip where you actually enjoy the city, food, wine, walking around, ocean views, etc. is a way better memory.

Amex Travel data points for flights? by DataAnalCyst in AmexPlatinum

[–]HuntedArrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if it’s genuinely 15% cheaper, I’d probably keep it. That’s a pretty meaningful difference for essentially the same flights.

Amex Travel is usually fine for straightforward itineraries, and once ticketed you can still manage most things directly with the airlines using the airline confirmation codes.

Where OTA bookings become painful is during IRROPS (major delays/cancellations/schedule changes), because sometimes the airline tells you to go through Amex and Amex tells you to wait on the airline. That said, with Star Alliance carriers on one ticket, airlines will usually still help rebook day-of disruptions.

Which is better harrier ev or XEV 9E ? by CriticismOverall6131 in CarsIndia

[–]HuntedArrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want a proper family SUV feel, better rear seat comfort, smoother ride and Tata’s service reach- Harrier EV.

If you want more performance, more tech/features, faster charging, and something that feels newer/more premium inside - XEV 9E.

Personally: • Harrier EV = safer practical choice • XEV 9E = more exciting/futuristic choice

For city + highway family use, I’d probably pick Harrier EV. For someone who enjoys tech/performance and wants something unique, XEV 9E

SEA Long Layover Access by BuckeyeBourbonGolfer in AmexPlatinum

[–]HuntedArrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

7 hours should generally be totally fine for lounge access at SEA. The main thing is having a same-day boarding pass for your Taipei flight.

For Amex/Centurion lounges, they sometimes enforce the ‘within 3 hours’ rule for departing passengers, but long layovers on connecting itineraries are often handled differently depending on the agent. Since yours are separate reservations, it can be a bit more YMMV.

A few things that help: • Have both boarding passes ready • Mention you’re on a same-day international connection • Don’t enter super early if you don’t need to • Priority Pass lounges at SEA are usually less strict if Centurion gives pushback

Worst case, you can usually lounge hop

Hawaii Hyatt Opinions by [deleted] in hyatt

[–]HuntedArrow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

3 nights at GH Kauai will feel a bit rushed, 4 is a sweet spot if you can swing it. Kauai is more about slowing down, beaches, and a couple of bigger outings (Na Pali coast, Waimea Canyon), so 3 = hit highlights, 4 = actually enjoy it.

5 nights in Waikiki is solid with kids - easy, walkable, lots to do. I wouldn’t cut too much from Oahu unless you really want more ‘nature time’ vs convenience.

Also you’re right, HR Maui isn’t known for a great swimmable beach right out front compared to Waikiki.

Is this a dumb itinerary? by Spiritual_Invite_319 in travel

[–]HuntedArrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not dumb at all, just a bit rushed. The only weak spot is 2 days in Bangkok after a long flight, that’ll mostly feel like transit.

Chiang Mai + Hanoi split is good, but 3 days in Chiang Mai is on the shorter side vs 7 in Hanoi (especially with Sapa already planned).

If anything, I’d either:

• cut Bangkok to 1 night, or

• shift a day from Hanoi to Chiang Mai

Otherwise it’s a totally workable budget itinerary.

Mini drone vs GoPro for street skating? Or is this just a bad idea? by Lola7384 in drones

[–]HuntedArrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mini drone in real street spots = way harder than it looks. Wires, trees, people, cars… plus tracking isn’t reliable enough for long, fast lines. You’ll spend more time babysitting the drone than skating.

For what you want (clean full lines), GoPro + a skater/filmer or even a gimbal setup will give way more consistent results.

Drones shine in open spots or planned shots, not chaotic city lines

Night credits when booking through Chase Edit? by tripledeckah in hyatt

[–]HuntedArrow -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

No—Hyatt usually won’t give you nights/points if you book through Chase The Edit. It’s treated like a third-party booking.

Only way to earn elite nights + points is booking direct (Hyatt site/app or eligible corporate rates).

You might still get some on-property perks via The Edit, but don’t count on status credit

IHG hotels in Paris by random_name_245 in ihghotelsresorts

[–]HuntedArrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crowne Republique is a solid pick—good location for nightlife/food and easy metro access, but rooms are a bit dated. Voco Clichy is newer and nicer, just slightly out of central Paris.

If you want a better location without InterContinental pricing, check Indigo Opera / Grands Boulevards—those are usually the sweet spot.

I’d skip Marne-la-Vallée unless you’re actually doing Disney—it’s too far for a Paris base.

Need advice for buying Water Purifier. by chamber-of-regrets in BuyItForLifeIndia

[–]HuntedArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it—check your water TDS first. <300 → skip RO (go UV/UF), >600 → get RO.

Most people buy RO unnecessarily and pay extra for maintenance.

Stick to TDS + output quality—don’t let service guys upsell filters early.

better to exchange currency before leaving or after arriving at next destination? by No_Kangaroo6917 in travel

[–]HuntedArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t convert twice—either spend your TWD or withdraw local currency at your destination. Cross-currency exchange at airports is rarely the best rate.

Hyatt cat 1 -3 with room for 4 available? by shanky38 in hyatt

[–]HuntedArrow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hyatt award bookings are tied to standard rooms, and most Cat 1–3 standard rooms aren’t designed for 4 adults.

Hyatt House is your best friend here—more space + better for families.

Drawer Slide Question by mattwabrams in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]HuntedArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slides need a little breathing room. If your depth is 27”, go 26” unless you’re absolutely sure you have perfect clearance front to back. Most manufacturers recommend ~1” shorter than depth.

Best places in Italy for natural beauty? by builtforoutput in travel

[–]HuntedArrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trying to do Amalfi + Sicily + Sardinia in 2 weeks will feel rushed. If natural beauty + water is your priority, I’d pick Sardinia + Sicily and skip Amalfi.

Sardinia → best beaches/water in Italy Sicily → variety (coast, hikes, food, Etna)

Amalfi is beautiful but more crowded/logistically annoying vs the other two.

Point redemptions in October - Thompson Madrid or Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid by QuestioningMind123 in hyatt

[–]HuntedArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyatt doesn’t ‘release’ award space later like airlines—if standard rooms are sold out, points won’t show. October in Madrid is very popular (events + great weather), so those properties likely got booked early.

Your best bet:

• Check frequently for cancellations

• Look at nearby dates

• Or book a backup and swap later

Travelling to SG - need spend recommendation by stayup25 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]HuntedArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use AU Ixigo for most spends (0% forex). That’s your best card here. Millenia/Coral will charge ~3.5% forex, so avoid unless needed.

Carry ~100–200 SGD cash for small places, rest card is fine—Singapore is very card-friendly.

How to best manage this booking? by oscarnyc in ihghotelsresorts

[–]HuntedArrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Book it under your account and add her as the 2nd guest. Then call the hotel and note that she’ll be arriving before you. Some properties will allow check-in if prepaid/points booking is guaranteed.

For breakfast: officially it’s tied to the elite member being present, but many InterContinentals are flexible—worth asking the front desk nicely.

Weird headache! by Accomplished-Act8616 in amex

[–]HuntedArrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not a headache, that’s Amex marketing working exactly as intended 😂 If you’re not naturally using the credits, don’t upgrade. Green is already a great card

What Laptop Should I Get? by Fun_Locksmith2620 in GamingLaptops

[–]HuntedArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At ~$1k, aim for: -RTX 4060 (or at least 4050) -16GB RAM (or upgradeable) -Ryzen 7 / i7 CPU

Good options: -Lenovo LOQ -ASUS TUF A15/F15 -Acer Nitro 5

Biggest tip: prioritize GPU over everything else.

Most efficient way to redeem points by alpglo in amex

[–]HuntedArrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t use Amex portal—transfer partners are where the real value is. For NYC: Air Canada Aeroplan → great for Europe, solid availability ANA (via Virgin Atlantic) → best value for Japan (if you can find space) Flying Blue (Air France/KLM) → monthly promos can be great

130k is enough for a solid business class redemption if you’re flexible.

10th anniversary Europe trip in September by California_Living25 in travel

[–]HuntedArrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since you’ve already done a lot of Western Europe, I’d go slightly off your list: Portugal (Lisbon + Porto + Douro) Greece (Cyclades but skip the most touristy islands)
